Cheapest option but also the most effort

You’ve done this before?
My experience was very low effort/high return. -

No I haven't to be honest, but I'd probably need to buy a metal file as I've only got some small ones.
But good to hear that it should be doable.

I had a similar issue, new wheel axle was too wide for an old shopper.
Was pretty quick to swap the axle for one with slotted ends, assuming the wheel is a straightforward cup n cone one. -

The price for cassette spacers, especially enough to convert a hub to SS, seems insane for what they are: has anyone found a means of buying in bulk? Can’t find on AliExpress. SS conversions kits similarly overpriced etc. (if I buy 100 happy to share the spoils!)

You could use the spacers from old worn out cassettes (the ones between the sprockets)

I know it’s just I’ve got three projects I’m lining up and I’m quite a few short!

LBS should have plenty of them in the bin..

Get a wide based sprocket, spacers from LBS as others have said.

Building up this lovely frame courtesy of @Foreigner65 into a nice road fixed. Not going period correct or anything on this one, it will get some nice spare parts I've had for a whil and probably a set of PDWs. Unsure on which stem to use, -the old steel Titan one here that is good and stiff with the deep Cinelli drops or get a Cinelli 1a or something ( I find these a bit flexy over a certain length) and shallower bars. Can't ride it until my wrist is fully healed in a few weeks anyway, so plenty of time to overthink it.

Finally got round to fitting my wiggle implosion discount bits and other parts, now full GRX 810 as I was fed up with the TRP hyrd I had on there before.
It took a while but managed to get it set up running a 48/31 with 11-42T rear, b-screw is maxed out so might order the extra long one from wolf tooth if it starts playing up.

Nitto Randonneur ! They are, by far, the best I tried for long distances. Only regret for other bikes: they do not exists with a 31.8MM clamp width in order to work with modern bikes.

The B132, B135 or the B136?
The B135 at least existed once in a SSB / 31.8 version.
Also had one of them (guess the B132), but made the mistake to get the narrow 42cm version, which is of course even narrower on the tops.
Atm I go for longer stem and compact bars with modern shifters, but would be interesting to try a shorter stem with a longer reach handlebar.
(that Meral is btw super lovely!)

Don't know much about this bike, think the headbadge says Cicli Gabriel?
The woodrims says Luxi. Will try to find out as much as possible about this bike. Fun restoration project:)

Congrats on this, if you start a thread on the project I'll be sure to subscribe.
I feel like I should know the answer to this, but...
Is it possible to change a front wheel axle for one with a smaller diameter?
I got some replacement wheels for an old bike which had 27" wheels on. The axle on the replacement is too big to fit through the bottom of the fork dropouts (though it fits fine in the dropouts themselves, which are light-bulb shaped).
It seems like my options would be (most-least expensive):
-New QR wheel or wheel with smaller axle
-Change axle
-File bottom of dropouts
