Luckily I had a PT behind who sprung into an improvised deadlift but that made my left shoulder give way so I just crawled out way. Oh the shame.
As much as it's annoying, safeties are really worth it for squats. Pushing to true failure every now and again is really good for the mindset I think, but important that true failure doesn't lead to injury!
