  • It is not a fine, it is an invoice, and it relies on a contract being established with the driver, who they have to correctly identify. As your car wasn’t there and you didn’t have it at the time, you can tell both the enforcement company and the debt collectors to get fucked. They also have to demonstrate a loss to justify the fine level, which they simply cannot. You should also send a rocket to the Co Op because they will be able to get the charge cancelled.

Again I think this is out of date after a 2015 Supreme Court case. The MSE link does give a full set of instructions as to what you should do though

  • I had a similar situation in an ASDA a few years ago. I wrote asking them for relevant but commercially sensitive information about their systems (lots of help from IT at work)I also said I was going to do a subject access request to the store for all CCTV .
They cancelled the invoice without any comment.

  • YouTube ad blockers for android, does anything work? I've had YouTube premium for years which I paid through my company, closed it down and just started getting ads today.

Just thought I'd check if anything worked before just paying for premium again. I can't go back to ads.

  • Also interested in this. Ublock works well on desktop but doesn't seem to be able to deal with the youtube app when tried on my phone.

  • You can use Kiwi browser which allows you to install the regular Chrome Ublock extension from the Chrome store.

  • I use Brave browser which blocks ads. I think Firefox with uBlock Origin also does it (I've never noticed ads anyway). Obviously both browser based rather than an app.

  • I use newpipe via the FDroid store.
    YouTube, no ads, can download.

  • Cool, I'll check it out. Didn't even realise you couldn't listen to stuff when you minimise the app. The whole thing is horrendous now.

  • It depends a bit how you consume YouTube but I have scripts which download videos from the channels I subscribe to which are then published to an RSS feed. My podcast client then downloads them overnight. No adverts and I can watch where I have no signal, eg the tube.

  • This is brilliant thanks. Didn't know of FDroid or newpipe, works a treat.

  • Vanced/Revanced?

  • Does it maintain all your youtube subscriptions etc?

  • You have to import your subscriptions but it worked flawlessly for me (tells you how to do it in the app), the interface is a bit different and will take a bit of getting used to. Also doesn't seem to be YouTube shorts on there but I'm taking that as a positive and I can get stuck in a doom scroll on those.

  • This sounds great, thanks! Have downloaded brave and will see how I get on with watching via the browser there, but this looks like a great alternative.

  • Didn't that stop working? Have a vague memory they started trying to monetise it and google cracked down.

  • Mine broke and I never managed to get it working again.

Now trying newpipe via FDroid, as I've largely stopped watching YouTube due to the ads. Maybe that's a good thing though.

It's taking forever to download though.

    Why?

  • Just tried the light weight version and that downloaded and is working without ads.

    Big thank you to @sacredhart!

Can go back to listening to old dnb sets in the background.

  • It's taking forever to download though.
    Why?

That's a really old version and won't work because Google keeps changing things to stop people watching videos and not ads. Make sure you get the newest newpipe version in fdroid, by following these instructions: https://newpipe.net/FAQ/tutorials/install-add-fdroid-repo/

  • has anyone used zipcar flex from london to gatwick airport north terminal? what are the logistics like? Travelling with a child.

  • Train issues have turned my planned 4 hour round trip from south London to Grantham in to a 9 hour rail replacement fiasco. Before I stump up the best part of £100 plus fuel to get myself, my girlfriend and our dog there and back in an enterprise rental has anyone got any magic way of covering a couple of hundred miles quickly and cheaply? I had a look at Turo but it's not much cheaper and I've had bad experiences in the past!

  • That might work! Will take a look, thanks.

  • This is a very bold claim though
