I watched a PCT hike video so now I'm buying DCFucking everything.
Not really, but I've stuck it here for later in case I do decide to do something that dumb.

want my SMD Deschutes Solo for a good deal?

Durston's are pretty hyped up tents but yeah buy a SilPoly one.

Talk to me. I can't get away from the feeling that the Gatewood is too small.

Apologies if this has been covered. But any recommendations for pegs that don't fold like a damp straw that aren't daft money?

Depending on how light you want to go:
https://ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/mini-groundhog-stakes---6-pk/
https://ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/groundhog-tent-stakes---6-pack/
Totally worth the outlay. I've smashed my Mini's and full size Groundhog's with rocks so many times to get them into very hard ground and they've never bent or chipped and the hold power they have really is sublime. Definitely lighter pegs out there, but these are the perfect combo of weight to holding power to toughness IMO.
You could do Easton pegs if you know you're only ever going to be on soft ground though. Or even carbon pegs.

You could also mix and match. I.e. I use full size Groundhogs at the head and foot end of my tarp as that's where the most holding power is required, and Groundhog Mini's on the four corners as they don't need as much holding power.

Sea to Summit Ground Control are very strong, the cords eventually break but they are easy to replace. They are a little bulky but for us that’s not a problem.

MSR Groundhog or Groundhog Mini as above, nothing else comes close

And to follow-up the stake chat with a warning to just don't bother with the copies from AliX. Absolutely not worth it.

Neat.
The ones that came with the Vango Xenon were much like spaghetti given the rocks in the ground where we camped (and my extreme impatience... ROCK SMAASH!)

this tent looks interesting at the price, wondering if worthy of mods.
would you be able to share any pro's and con's? -

These bear a striking resemblance to the Alpkit ones or vice versa.
-
• #2890
the Alpkit are solid pegs, I only broke them at the top where they thin once or twice. The 'head' just snaps off eventually.
-
• #2891
MSR are industry leaders. Alpkit are outsource copycats :) The MRS are very much worth it.

Anyone any experience of these? £219 on Sportpursuit, 2 person tent coming in at 1.5kgs

Looks like an MSR Hubba Hubba NX
-

Interesting, it seems Fern are owned by North Lane Group, another they own is Vulpine. NLG are in turn owned by SportPursuit according to companies house.

If you're looking for cheap MSR clones, I would recommend Naturehike.

Does Tyvek have a right side up?
-
• #2897
No it doesn’t but I always did logo side up so that it was always the same side getting dirty (and not me and my stuff)

• #2898
Ta.

Is there a recommended place people are getting their tyvek undersheets?

I recently got some here:

Don't get a dyneema tent.
These are nice, if your a thruhiker. There are better tens for nearly everyone Inc the bikepacker.
