Agreed on the bottle cages.
I ended up modding my non-gorilla grip ones with elastic bands to add grip. Looks crap but hey ho

Anyone else doing the Xterra duathlon at Matterley Basin in February?
-
• #2305
I'm going to reply to my own question.
This race is tomorrow. First multisport race for me. Have had Covid all week. Its going to be brutal!
-
• #2306
Open water swim?
-
• #2307
Duathlon. So thankfully no swimming.
-
• #2308
It was hard
-
• #2309
Missed that part apologies.
How was the second run? Hilly?
-
• #2310
It was slow. I really wasn't moving well.
Because of a crash and sickness I'd only done two short runs in my new trail shoes and they were awful!! So painful. I'm going back to hokas.
But given how ill I'd been in the week, I was glad to get round to be honest. Ended up 40th.
Will have another go next year. I enjoyed the format, just had nothing in the legs

Was listening to Gustav Iden the other day say how some days you just don’t have it no matter what the build up was like you’re just not there that day.
Then you just gotta enjoy the experience.

• #2312
I enjoyed it enough to want to do another one.

If anyone fancies a new Tri Suit. I've got one of these going spare that doesn't fit my fat arse any more (it only did once. Was going to put it on ebay.

Only issue is I cut off the little elastic tab it that you grab hold of. It was annoying me.
I got it barely used last summer.
£50 posted if someone fancies it. Size medium

Anyone got any exos in a 8/42 they would like to pass on?

Anyone done any tests for sweat?
When I’m on bricks lately I’m getting really queezy with what feels like a craving for salt.
I use electrolytes but it’s getting every brick session lately.
-
• #2320
No but if I’m doing a hard session I use the super salty precision hydration 1500 stuff, I also used a bottle of it in double concentration last year during my Ironman to counteract the fact Maurten has not electrolytes..
-
• #2321
Will investigate these thanks.

I met these guys at a race I've not used them yet but they seem rated

Just dropping by to talk about training. Run training specifically.
This winter the coach I have put me on basically all zone 2 runs bar a few hill repeats every fortnight telling me I’d get all the intensity and speed I’d need from the bike and the couple hill repeats for leg strength, wasn’t certain about it but trusted it.
First race pace run today purely on feel. 10 seconds off my best 5k time ever for 4km before the chafe put a halt to proceedings.
Genuinely shocked at how easy holding that pace felt thought I was running 6m/km pace but was actually 4:27. “Trust the process” yada yada

Also Pegasus Turbos are still super quick tempo shoes.

They're pretty much half price on sport pursuit at the moment aswell. Good training is going well for you I was prescribed similar 30-40-60 min z2 runs off the bike plus one long z2 run with a tempo finish all with just a few sets of 200m strides at the end and 10x 1min hard hills once a week 3-4 weeks out and I wondered how I was going to get fast without any 2-5 min quick intervals and nothing at threshold which is where I would be mostly running off the bike but it really did work because the volume was decent and I got used to running on tired legs off the bike. I did have to do loads of stretching especially hip flexors to make sure I was moving well especially when jumping straight into the run after the harder bike sessions. Before that my running off the bike was 5-10% slower than just running but this the difference between the two was only 2-3%

Not got a spare one but these are fine and only a tenner. The most important thing is using a secure bottle cage rather than the mount itself
https://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/adjustable_saddle_mounted_bottle_cage_mount-5717
This has been 100% reliable and only cheap aswell
