I’ve been running red on my cross bike 😬
Ive also loads of questions lined up!
Had a crazy weekend so not looked at any of the bits I’ll need. -

How’s that pump?
-

It's lovely. I've got a zefal HPX and a Topeak road master blaster, both of which function perfectly. The Silca works just as well but feels more solid and smooth.

Can you replace the rubber around the valve end?
-
• #29781
Yes. £9 I think from memory
Mine looks worn but it hasn't had any effect functionally yet. I've carried it on almost every ride for the last 3 years -

Mine randomly lost a chunk the other day somehow!?
-
• #29783
Oh lame.
I think it's this one, 323, sold out at saddleback

Oh no sorry the bit around the end valve end
-
• #29785
Oh where it touches the frame?
-
• #29786
Yeah
-
• #29787
That's no good. Send me a pic and I'll see if there can't be some warranty situ we can look at

Did about a hundred miles of riding through all sorts of wetness this weekend with some Finish Line ceramic lube on my chain. Have to say, it faired much better than other wet lubes I've tried, no crunchy dry chain sounds!

So just the brake levers?

Still trying to work this out, Silca wet lube is the best so far. Going to try their ebike lube next time. Squirt doesn't seem to be able to last 5+ hours and muc off was awful

I've been using the Silca wet lube but after a muddy ride and a hose-down it's all washed out anyway. Might as well get the cheapest possible oil.

I think wetness is a better term than gravel for the UK, don't you think?
-
• #29793
Yep, it still requires reapplication every weekend but it seems to last a whole ride without turning too gunky

This is the current web lube I'm using for the Brompton (when I don't use a waxxy lube) and other commuters. ZFC* rates it well.
*I wonder if Zero Friction Cycling is comparable to Power Meters in this convo?

ZFC
I miss Zad's Fried Cauliflower.

Boeshield?

Stick some lube in an eye dropper bottle and re-apply half way round?

Shorter rides?

Avoid muc off wet lube like the plague.
Turns out Red cranks aren’t grav grav approved - PPF ordered 😬
No protection on the Crux. I’ll sell it before it gets scratched.
