Agreed - what's the theory behind/reason for paying good money to hide brick or stonework...? Weatherproofing or something?

Weatherproofing, and often pebbledashed houses will be constructed with less appealing bricks

It was a scam; cowboys knocking on doors telling you your house was about to fall down unless you immediately paid them a ‘discounted’ rate to slap a load of concrete shit all over it.
