FromJapan has been my saviour and downfall, think I read about it first on the Fedora Lounge, where reside some of the best minds when it comes to vintage and vintage style leather jackets.

I'll be impressed if you can find someone to resole these
Is that with all stitchdown or the Loake in particular?

Just that specific Loake desert boot. I took them to a couple of places and they both said it’s possible but at ~£100 it didn’t seem worth it. I think they were quoting high because they didn’t want the job :)
They were bloody comfy though! -

i saw a video mentioning waxed suede! which has put me right on track to muck-about with these; will I ruin them? -potentially yes- but I'll have a look at what's in the box to attempt it..

Our of curiosity do you know of any Clarks desert boot cloans that can be resoled? If

Over the last few years I've bought most of my work shoes from the loake shop in town.
They do a loyalty card with 6 purchases meaning a free pair worth the average cost.
The time is now. :)

As long as it's stitch down it should be resoleable.

I can't really remember as it was about ten years ago but I think the issue was the crepe sole - something like it needed to be belt sanded off and that material kills belt. In my head it should be a straightforward job but I had two different cobblers refuse to touch them.

Ah. So that was when £100 for a resole was expensive.

https://jadd.shoes/collections/all - not technically a clone as this guy worked with Clarks to refine their Originals line (so I’m told by other shoe makers)
Also the cobblers nest in Waterloo will be able to resole Clarks, and so will Koko of Finchley

Anyone have experience with Paraboots and their ‘double stitched’ soles? Is it straight forward to replace when the time comes?

Yes should be straightforward - the upper is stitched down to a midsole then rubber sole stuck on - the ‘welt’ is a decorative dressing on top of the turned out upper 👍🏻

Yeah a shoemaking course with Carre Ducker in the OXO tower… I’m 4 weeks in, 15hrs ish…
Cheers all, it’s great fun - I always wanted to be a Cordwainer but went down the architecture route which is good but sometimes very frustrating and long winded - I hope to be able to fix/remake my own shoes and do some slow bespoke stuff for myself, friends and family eventually…
This is a pair that James Ducker made that I’m aiming to emulate - I was limited in my last choice and leather choice as these are my first pair - all the browns were pretty naff, black is boring so it was between bottle green or navy…

Anyone have a lead on mens shoes similar to these Socque ones my wife got in Paris? They're absolutely brilliant and I'd love a pair but they only go up to EU41 sadly...

Fear of God did some collapsible heel suede shoes
The Row also do some but ££There’s a shoe brand called Yogi who have something a bit similar - never seen them irl
Wow. Thank you!
That's exactly what I was after. Just missed a time limited discount there, but will monitor prices and snap up a pair.
Cheers.
