So is it a 1-/4" bearing that's just sat higher on the taper?

Bearings go spin spin.
I believe the answer to this question to be yes.
(This should form part of my build thread - but it would have been buried)

Actually it TURNS out it was fine from the start, its a 1 1/4 fork and headset :)

Yeah it actually looks like it may just have been a 1-1/4 with integrated bearing race. They switched to that from flat crown at some point during caad12s

I think so! This pink spacer isn’t required is it? This is exactly how bearing usually sit!
In this case I’m running a bearing with less height than what the frame was designed to accommodate the forks chamfer (race) into account. This has been a wild ride.

Looks totally fine, wouldn't bother with the machined spacer.
Happy it got resolved so readily -

Phew, glad this worked out.
Tempted by a CAAD13 disc fork for my track 10.
Blue steerer
Green bearing
Pink machined spacer
I don’t think the spacer is strictly necessary as under pre loading it shouldn’t move. But belt and braces.
Rate my technical drawing out of /10 😄
