  • I felt the same about Bottoms, the dialogue left me cold most of the time

  • I've never seen a film set in an American High School so it sounds interesting.

  • The Holdovers is just brilliant. What a film!

  • Film club was "Bloody nose, empty pockets" last night, a good film to watch in a pub, a good film all round with a few emotional bits and quite a few laughs.

  • Off to see this tonight:

Score from Hiromi Uehara. Super limited cinema release so happy there was one near me.

  • Booksmart is worth a watch for the high school tropes.

  • Mubi are offering a 3 month subscription for £1 at the moment if anyone fancies it.

  • ^^ Blue Giant was fucking excellent by the way.

Excellent soundtrack and the animation, particularly during the live performances, was next level. Story (based on the manga) was a little trite in parts but it had loads of heart. Definitely a wholesome love letter to jazz.

Shame it only got two days of release in UK cinemas but hoping the blu ray gets a UK release later in the year. Guaranteed buy from me.

  • Anyone seen Zone of Interest yet?

  • I'm off to see it in a couple of hours. I'm actually slightly nervous. Doesn't sound like it's going to be loads of fun.

  • Are you expecting it to be loads of fun?

  • Can confirm it was not loads of fun. One of the most powerful films I've ever seen. I'm in a bit of a daze an hour later!

  • All of Us Strangers at the cinema last night. A little close to the bone for Gen X queers. Love a good chamber piece film (not sure if right description but few main actors). Lingering sadness. Recommend if you enjoy leaning into your melancholy.

  • I'm off to see it this afternoon. Can't believe how much decent stuff there is out at the moment!

  • I worked on this one too 💪😎. In the sound department. Can confirm it was quite taxing

  • The sound absolutely made it to be honest!

  • I can't go to the cinema in quick succession anymore. Used to love it, festival passes etc. But now I feel like every film needs its space.

  • Finally got around to watching Triangle Of Sadness last night.

Really enjoyable if stressful experience. It’s on prime for anyone who has it.

  • Yeah it's good that could be due a re-watch

  • Think it's on bfi player atm as well

  • I also thought The Square was really good too by the same director.

  • You said it right.

  • Black Fiction is very good!

  • I enjoyed ‘Poor Things’ this afternoon. I tend to not read reviews or see trailers these days, just rely on Mrs M with film choices
