  • Novatec track hub axles are M10 i thought?

  • 10mm rear, 9mm front.

  • bikes are dumb some times, as am I.
    cheers man

  • Did you file back the dropout so the rack tab sits flush or is there a spacer behind there to allow for a flat engagement. I went through this with a carbon fork and in the end resolved it by using PDW mudguard tabs secured to the rack stays that are very slim and sit flush into the dropout. Not as secure as the twin bolt fixing your tabs have but i've been fine with lighter loads. I'll get a pic if none of this is making sense.

+1 for not fucking around though, i'd consider speaking to Martin/Arkane and seeing if he has any longer axles.

  • balls, yeah maybe ‘tis the best thing to do now I’m doubting the bodge of the reverse nut job

  • Isn’t it 9x1mm as well (fine thread?), so not bog standard thread

  • When you're drunk, you don't feel the need to brake so often.

    Problem solved.

  • I did buy some 10mm nuts from the local hardware shop but they don’t seem to want to thread on entirely, maybe an old vs new threading thing???

Different pitch, most 10mm axles are 1.0mm pitch, but hardware store M10 nuts will be 1.5mm ISO coarse, or 1.25mm if the shop likes to serve the Japanese auto market. You can get M10×1.0 nuts fairly easily, but you have to ask for them.

Think I have some of these in the tool box if they’d help?
You could ditch the axle mount leg and just screw rack straight to this lil guy

  • Yup, indeed.

It's hard to explain why I prefer Weldtite ones when I say the threads are longer.

Will try to get a photo the next time I have my hands on some.

  • Hey, I was about to turn my MTB into a singlespeed for the rest of the winter but realized all of my Boost wheels have a Microspline hub.
Anyone has a relatively cheap solution to turn a MS hub => Singlespeed.

I've seen some kit online but they're quite expensive :(

  • Ah okay yeah that looks smart, seems a lot thinner, could use the regular 9mm track nut then. I’m not going to be putting anything heavy on the rack really so don’t need such a beefy bottom fitting with two screws in?

  • Shimano Microspline.

  • No hope of separate freehubs then, probably stuck with a pricey kit for now at least.

  • Yeah I guess I should just buy a used wheel with an HG hub, that might be cheaper :)

  • 100% disc brake noob here. Ordered flat mount brakes (Shimano ALTUS BL-MT201/BR-UR300) for a frame that I now realise requires post mount.

I’ve seen online that adapters can work to make these fit? But can’t figure out which size I should be going for. Any help appreciated!

  • Get some post mount calipers and swap them over, the adapters are uggo.

  • Cheapest option for an admittedly uggo commuter/hack to begin with?

  • The calipers ain't much more than the adapters, and you can sell the old calipers, or even better send them back if they're new.

  • Nah, other than being ugly it is also harder to adjust.

Calipers are cheap as chips, go for it.

  • Maybe stupid but I bought some of the 3T carbon gravel bars, cant for the life of me get the sti clamp band round all the bends in the bars. Cover with grease? Carbon paste? Wrestle it? Do they do ones bigger than the 23.8-24.2mm?

  • Try with fairy liquid applied direct to the bar. Just a little.

In case you've not tried already, you can also normally remove the sti clamp from the lever. It's then fiddly to screw the sti bolt back into it again, but it's doable.

  • I am looking for DT Swiss HX 491 36h rims in the UK, couple of UK sites list them as out of stock, called Madison and the person on the other end says they only stock up to 32h.

Anyone knows where can I source the 36h from? Europe for sure but would prefer UK stock if possible.
