Do it. I desperately wanted an S-Works M4, in red, when I was a kid. Team MBUK/Specialized era.
Those Bombers were butter smooth back when they came out, but if they've not been looked at for a while, expect a horrible grey sludge inside them -

Can't decide whether or not to put gears on my Honzo.
I was all set to do it today but when I dug the bike out I noticed the chain had gotten a bit rusty and that the whole bike was a bit grotty after my last ride so instead of spending a couple hours fitting and fettling the gears I spent like, 10 minutes just lubing the chain and giving it rough wipe over and it was running sweet as.
I just thought, gears are gonna be more maintenance than this.

You're supposed to maintain the gears? Oh.
-
• #28205
10 minutes is probably 8 more than my gears get.

I kinda reckon I'd break em pretty quick too.
I chucked it down one of the off piste bits at Glentress last time and ended up on me arse sliding down beside my bike coz it was a bit muddy and rooty. Singlespeed just takes these things no questions asked but would have been quite likely to have at least bent the hanger I reckon.

Why? Just get axs…
-
• #28208
AXS still likes the occasional charge, clean and oil.
-
• #28209
Sram transmission you have no hanger to bend

Charge? Clean? New bike time

It was nearly new bath time after I gave the wheels a scrub.

Pop a Rohloff on there and carry on as before

Been tempted.
I have a 3 speed Centrelock Nexus hub somewhere…

Trying some new tyres on the supercaliber.
They certainly look good. And they went up tubeless with a track pump which is always a bonus.

any recommendations for a 40t 104bcd chainring for a Shimano XT FCM785 chainset. have shark toothed a 40T one in 3 years. looking for something a little harder wearing / longer living
a replacement for one of these
https://sportandleisure.com/products/shimano-deore-xt-fc-m785-10-speed-double-chainring-104mm-bcdthis does seem to be on sale and cheap but wondered if there are any alternatives, or should i just buy a couple now and be done with the next 6 years worth of riding ?

If it's for a double chainset, you'd struggle to find a chainring that shifts as well as the Shimano
I'd just stock up while they're on sale
-
• #28217
Obviously, I'd buy loads, then decide I want to go 1x, making them all redundant

They look massive! What size you got in there? Still a stunning bike, still enjoying it?
-
• #28219
Cheers. 2.2 I think... but I just grabbed them from the slightly used pile at work so didn't really look to be honest.
Still loving it. Although I only really ride it in the summer. Racing a duathlon on it tomorrow. Hopefully it buys me some time against the runners!
-
• #28220
Ah ok they look bigger! Good luck tomorrow, is this the Xterra duathlon?
-
• #28221
Cheers. Yep. That's one. Course is very tame from the look of it.

I’ve got my Sonder Cortex for sale if anyone is after a fun short travel full sus bike.
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/393777
I thought I’d priced it pretty fairly at about half of RRP, considering it’s really not done very many miles. But no interest so far, so maybe I was too high? Or maybe it is just not the kind of thing people are after?
Anyway, going to drop the price a bit, but if anyone is interested feel free to make me an offer. Need to get it gone to pay for the new bike.

Race report when you're done plz!

Fucking ouch is all I can think to say for now. I've had covid all week so started with empty legs and just got emptier. Really quite brutal.
I did 'enjoy' it though
Those pirelli tyres were decent

Well done, looks like a nice muddy day out. Was there much tech stuff?
Haha, this came up on my FB reminder just a few days ago. 29th Jan 2008, that's me on the log plop like 16 years ago. Fuck me I'm old.
Riding my old Spesh SX trail.
(RPM, that rings a bell. Weren't you one of the original Chocolate Foot gang?)
