Never cook fry with extra virgin olive oil, thats for sure, smoke point is on the low side at 190c. Also it does tend to brown cooking surfaces when over heated.
Extra light olive oil has a higher smoke point at 210. I use this, peanut oil, or butter/ghee.I'd guess that a Le Creuset pan owner would have a preference towards buying nicer EVOO, so their advice isn't completely ludicrous.
Don’t fry with olive oil, which is good advice.
