  • Tekken 8 launches tomorrow

Tonight isn't it? 8pm or something

  • 11pm so basically tomorrow

  • Is anyone playing Throne & Liberty?

  • I've been steaming a bit of Tekken 8. It's going pretty well.

  • putting a tablet on a vpn in front of your dog doesn't count.

  • I don't apologise for having a supportive family

  • My joycons seem to be broken. Well to be exact only one of them and only a bit broken, but broken enough to make it annoying.

I don’t want to pay £60 for a new set of official nintendo ones. There seem to be 1000s of almost identical looking knock off ones on amazon and ebay. Has anyone bought any of these / can anyone point me to a pair that will do all the same things as the official ones and won’t break in a week?

  • Managed to mod the mighty 787b in PCars...

  • I mean, none of them work exactly like the original joycons to my knowledge.
Perhaps you should look at CEX, as you can purchase a single replacement in a colour of your choice. Also a 24m warranty.

  • Ordered Tekken 8.
Game Collection eBay store and the JanPay20 discount code gets it down to £47

Edit: who'd be a console gamer!

  • Nice. I bought from Simply Games but am regretting it already. It'll either get played a grand total of 5 times, or it's gonna keep me captive for far too long. Neither are good outcomes.

  • I just buy the parts and fix mine - had to do it for four! Annoying yes, and I've clumsily ripped the LED ribbon cable before.

    Joy-cons are not durable.

  • Joycon repair kit? I managed to fix one for my son and it has held up well for a year now. Not difficult just fiddly.

  • Mine didn't hold up as long unfortunately. The analog stick button/press failed pretty quick. But no drift is a welcome enough return.

  • I have just ordered a new PC so I can retire my old one for my son to use. He is dying to play fortnite with a mouse and keyboard. Aiming with joysticks, is, and always will be, bullshit. Coop BL3 will be pretty damn fun too.

Sniper Elite series was a random punt at Steam that has turned into an absolute blast. Sniping Nazis at 250m never gets old.

I am almost 100% on SE5 and just started playing SE4 now. I think it is the first time I have experienced de-evolving of the the mechanics by working backwards in a series. Interesting to say the least.

  • Aiming with joysticks, is, and always will be, bullshit

Disagree for anything 3rd person - and I started on M&Kb

  • I go back to late 70s arcade cabinets.

Joystick aiming for 1st and 3rd person is too slow an imprecise. Ref: Geats of War, et al.

  • Been playing Far Cry 6 on Game pass. It's a bit samey, but discovered I'm surprisingly good at head shots in this game (weirdly better with a regular rifle than with an actual sniper rifle). Much better than I am on online multiplayer shooters...

  • Cheers, I hadn’t thought of that, but not a bad idea, I’ll take a look.

  • Pfft, aiming with mice is slow and imprecise compared to trackballs.

  • @infmz and @Aroogah. Thanks, also something I’ll consider. I have already repaired these once, so was thinking maybe I’d be better off with a brand new one. Though sounds like maybe it's best to think of them as Trigger’s joycon.

  • Pfft.

  • Although the well weighted massive trackball in the arcade version of Missile Defence was never replicated for the home market sadly.

  • I'm loving Tekken 8, my ps network name is ssumo89 if you fancy a game some time
