• I use inserts in gravel tyres, don't see why you couldn't in road (assuming they're tubeless). I just use 'backer rod' off eBay. Can probably get it in small enough diameter for road tyres.

  • I bought a couple used DT carbon wheels wheels for the road road bike that came with tyres and proper inserts in them, but....are they for rim protection or some sort of, 'getyahome' ability in the event of no sealing. Maybe a bit of both. I can of course google this.

  • I ride my gravel wheels pretty hard, sometimes with loads so I use inserts to avoid bottoming out but I guess they'd probably work as a get me home solution too. For the price and weight I don't see an reason not to. Allows for running much lower pressures without rolling tyres too. Can't speak for on road tho.

  • I have tubolight ones in my TT race wheels for when tubeless doesn't save a puncture and I need to be able to ride back to the HQ. Getting tyres on is a bit annoying, getting the tyre off is very hard unless you use a specific tool.
