My Brompton (3 speed) won't shift into the lowest gear. Should I be twiddling the rod thing in or out to resolve that? Cheers

1st? you would need to be shortening/tightening the cable to do that.

I 'need' this for mine.

This looks fantastic, might have to see if I can get something to fit as my Brompton is always in the way!

The 4 speed is loud, shifts poorly and is made up of proprietary parts.
The 3 speed internal is fine, but it’s heavy. And 2 shifters is tiring to even cosider when there are so many better options.

How much is a Rohloff-equipped Brompton and how much does it weigh?

According to some notes I made a while back, the Rohloff 14 hub is 1.7kg, the Nexus/Alfine 1.6kg and the SA is 1.3kg. All weights are approximate though, the 7 speed Nexus has a steel shell and heavier, the SA 5 speed is heavier.

It seems silly to build a titanium Brompton and then whack a really heavy hub on it.

I got my first proper look at a T line last week, it really is very nicely made and is a far better design than the old models, which to be fair are 30 odd years old. It rides really well too. A shame they’re so fucking expensive.

A lot, as you’d need to go custom. I went alfine and disk brakes several years ago (with a kinetics kit) and it was >£2k… Rohloff add another £500 at least on top for the hub.

And yes. Heavier than the standard 6 speed by c. 500g i think? It’s a beast to carry, I always wheel it when I can and glad I don’t have to carry up too many stairs at the station!

Okay, so why is the 12 speed meh, because it's a combination of all of these?? I have a 6 speed C line but thought it maybe good hybrid of similar weight but with a much better gear range.

Finally upgraded my rack and fenders.
Boys from bluelug sorted me out nicely.

Does anyone have a swytch kit they’re thinking of selling? I’d like to try it out

My frame isn’t suited for the single speed wheel I just bought. It needs two flat sides on the axle. I’m thinking of filing away the axle, or is that mega stupid?

I’m about to do some long overdue maintenance and weight saving upgrades to my 2011(?, it was certainly pre-2012) 2-speed (with the flat bar).
Never had any hinges/pivots changed… really worn, I hang my head in shame at the lack of maintenance, but it has sentimental value!
Would a Ti seatpost, new handlebar by Kuosac, 3-speed conversion be a good start. New Contact Urbans seem to be the tyre choice.
Do have an M_V special fork, CK gripnut and fancy brake levers in a box waiting. Some DA 7400 cranks, but unsure of bb length.
Any suggestions/comments?
At some point is a reasonably maintained secondhand Ti version a better bet?

Just file the frame open. I’ve done it on a couple of the older rear triangles and everyone still has their teeth

Ti-seatpost, BB, headset, pedals and saddle would be a good start.

Already got a nice B17 from when the bike was new, but I could swap that out for something lighter (couple of flites in the spares box). Have MKS removable pedals as I broke a couple of the folding ones.

There are even 5 speed kits and double front setups in the mod scene.

Internal geared is heavy but little to no maintenence, external gears are way lighter and gives you the freedom to play around the ratio as you choose.

I have a 1ME which I'm converting into a 2ML, not that the single speed isn't fun, but the 2 speed is a bit more practical.
