I know is easy to comment from a privileged position, and I've bought loads of shit from aliexpress over the years, but it does feel like if stuff was more expensive then it would be worth making it better and also be viable to repair.
The nest of tables seems a terrible waste. We put stuff like that on Freecycle or even just leave it at the end of the driveway - someone always wants it.
Our local recycling place has an area for good furniture, electrical items that still work, nik naks etc and which they sell on at very, very low prices.
