Ha! I meant Alfine 11! I hate the jumps in Alfine 8. Doesn't take long to take the 8 apart, but agree, far easier to do oil change on the 11 vs. regrease on the 8. I've just read too many things about fragility that have put me off, but this is the issue with the internet - too many people claiming about stuff! :)

I have been running the 11 speed on our bullitt for somewhere between 2000-3000km until now - have only done the oil change after the initial 1000 km.
It lives outside (under a roof) and has ridden through some truly awful weather.
I upgraded on the advice from a good friend, who is a certified bike mechanic.I'd like a rohloff, but it only makes sense if a) it's an expensive treat to myself or b) my mileage increases dramatically (think 5000-10000k) a year.

Mine always sucked. kept skipping under high torque.

+1 would love a rohloff - but for the money I think the Alfine 11 can't be beat.
Much easier to do the oilchange in the bike than having to take the hub almost completely apart to re-lube an 8 speed.
