Thanks for the replies. Big H I agree with you about Mario. I have seen his completed work and some frames had flat spots in the paint.
Today I called Argos Cycles and they quoted me £345 plus decals.
After collecting my frame this morning (Fox Plating have done a really nice job £250 for forks and rear stays) I popped in to see David at Colourtech. He quoted me £320 ish inc decals. But I didn't leave the frame with him as I wanted to think about it.
I hadn't thought about Rourke. I will ask them for a quote tomorrow.
Bob Jackson seems to have closed a year or two back.
I know that fading colours into each other is not easy, but I only need the main tubes painting, no forks or rear stays. If I pay £350 for painting the the frame repair will have cost £1000 +.BigH can you post a pic of you frame on here?

You are correct! Dave (Colour tech) was on the phone to Geoff Roberts while I was there today by coincidence.

Thanks for posting that. That must be Adrian Parry?

Hi @Millhouse yes Adrian Parry. Mine's off to (or at??) Colour Tech 🤞

According to legend, when the Roberts spray painter, Eric Camm, retired, Chas Roberts sold the paint booth to Dave at Colortech and all Roberts frames were then sprayed there.

Took my Roughstuff on a bit of a camping/festival trip last weekend… did the job just fine.
Mismatched luggage is a frustration!

[Edit]
My bad, miscalculated tempting eBay item, not my size... Keeping the Roberts... -

Early 70s Roberts lugless TT frame, only has cable guides for a 1x setup. Also has a piece of leather(?) in the bb shell to keep water out?

Nice, typical 70's modified track ends for TT.

Nice tandem on eBay. It looks like a recent respray from argos. Good starting price.
But it is located in Edinburgh -

My fillet brazed 853 dug out of the loft to take over winter commute duties. I need to get a longer stem, a front brake setup (anyone got a campy record front brake they don’t want) and I’m going to try to bodge some PDW fenders.

So on my TT frame upstream, where might the Serial# be? don't see anything on the drop outs, or on the fork.

Under the BB was a common place

Or on the fork steerer. BB number and steerer number would usually match unless a fork was bought in e.g. carbon.
Latest issue of Boneshaker magazine (more academic publication of veteran cycling club) includes part 4 of the Roberts history series focusing on design features.

Any interest in my Roberts Road Fixed? Size 54/55. Reynolds 725. Lightly used. Inspired by LFGSS it was built for me in Selhurst in c 2005 and has had very little use. I am 5ft 8, but there is only a fistfull of seatpost so you could be longer legged. It was built up at the shop using some parts they sourced and others from the original Hubjub - Sugino (48x18), Nitto quill, Royce hubs, Mavic Open Pros by Harry Rowland, ugly Nitto pursuit bars. It is on 30mm tyres and mudguards. Light blue/grey. Mark on bb from a dropped chain. No seatpost. I do not know its value but you might and I will be sensible. East Sussex, I can share further info/pics via DM then whatsapp. thanks.

Sounds almost exactly like what I'm looking for but I have a feeling it's going to be way out of my price range at the moment. Sigh. Hope you find a buyer for it

thank you, yes it is a nice thing, I doubt there are many similar around so a fair price is tricky. I have had some interest and will circulate some photos. I would really like it to be better used by someone on here. There was no build sheet of course, I went in the shop, they measured me, went out the back to discuss, and came out with just 2 measurements (in inches).

Recently repainted at Colourtech. Used as my audax and winter bike on less inclement days. Now fitted with a black XA stem and imported Miche syntium 11 165mm chainset. 55cm square. My stable is now burgeoning, with my Rondinella hung up gathering dust, Vitus 979 with C Record in same position. May have to thin the collection of ornaments imminently.

I'd avoid Mario for anything other than one colour cheap jobs.
Ive got a Jason Rourke resprayed frame in 3 colours including flouro which is pretty much perfect, 4 or 5 times better in terms of quality/finish and well worth posting up to him and paying for the shipping back. I can send you photos if you'd like?
