He tended to be pretty gracious in victory but not so much in defeat. Particularly if you had the temerity to not play the game as he thought it should be and actually tackle players. (He's obviously not the only one that describes.)

There's a lot who manage to accept defeat (or even points dropped) without complaining about the opposition.
