  • This is all Zone 2 to me.

  • Small wheels better for drafting, like the old Moulton track team?

  • I don't love someone right on my wheel but I remind myself everyone on two wheels is a friend, and everyone is just trying to get to work or home. If I'm cycling at pace (for me) then I suppose I'm fair game, I can slow my roll and force them to come around if I want

I took Jurek's comment to mean slowing down rather than brake checking, please don't brake check our cycling brothers/ sisters/ sibs

  • Nearly came a cropper this morning. Picture doesn't really do justice to how large and deep this is.

  • I mean, in the photo it appears bottomless so

  • I'd just assumed we're all trying to get home as quick as possible

Nah, I think I'm a bit of an outlier but I think the assumption that everyone's going as fast as they can, wants to 'share the load' etc etc is false. I don't even like cycling close to people I know and trust.

  • i cruised up to the bake of a chap on one of those e-bicycles this morning, offered a friendly hello expecting a cheeky tow off him, and he waved me through! the nerve!

  • I generally pootle on the commute, but if there's a chance to drop a Trek lycra warrior over London Bridge on my rack-n-basket retro MTB, imma take my shot.

  • Where is that? Hope it's been reported and is already being worked on.

  • Leyton, they were round pretty sharpish.

  • Thanks, good to know. Very dangerous subsidence.

  • I'd just assumed we're all trying to get home as quick as possible

But that’s the problem. There’s always Allez Man, riding on the absolute limit and sacrificing any control or awareness in doing so. I don’t want him anywhere near me, either in front or behind.

  • Which is entirely valid but I'd say the onus is on you to slow down / speed up to position yourself away from such riders. My initial point was that if you overtake someone I don't feel you can have any complaints if they then try and sit on your wheel.

  • yup that was my favourite. The run from Borough market to the City on my singlespeed 48:16 although in fairness no weekend warriors in this clip

  • Oh I agree. This is what I do. Generally just ease off, if someone in rugby socks sees me as a pacemaker!

  • 3.8M deep - a couple of weeks to repair.

  • that's one heck of a bunnyhop challenge

  • Thanks--nothing in the 'local' (as in: taken over by rubbish companies with no interest in news reporting) press yet. It's just lucky that didn't take houses with it.

Corner of Colchester Road and Epsom Road, isn't it?

  • Amusing as a chunky FKW promuter on an aero Trek this morning went into the back of a delivery van (not a big impact, just enough to need to double unclip and stumble onto his toptube). Biggest dent was to his ego.

Guy was cycling like a prick, tried to dive bomb everyone going right after putney bridge and then seemed to be huffing at me for not going up the inside of said van along the Kings Road. The rear ending happened when the van stopped for the first zebra crossing. I did chuckle.

Didn't deter his riding style though as he shurgged off his mishap to blat through the next zebra crossing on the wrong side of the road island while mum and pram crossed.

Do not want to draft that. Let him go.

  • Did that ride every day for 8 years, the walkie talkie wasn't there then.

Fresh orange juice in the market on a hot day was bliss.

  • Maybe not the place to ask but worth reporting this moronic parking job to the police?

Luckily I was cycling but this is on St asaphs road in Nunhead - queue of 10 cars, a single decker bus (can’t remember which number goes down here) and the bin lorry all stuck. When people asked lorry to move all the Travis Perkins guys said fuck off or wanker etc

Funny irony on the back of the lorry

Dread to think how long they were there, not that hard to park in space down the road or get a permit for temporary road closure or put bins out to stop people parking

  • I wouldnt blame them tbh, what can they do? The skip needs going .. or the heavy delivery needs to be made.

  • Judging by the way the outrigger has been extended from the driver's side of the lorry, my guess would be that it's more a case of making a delivery, and less one of parking.

  • seems like the issue is one of patience rather than parking.
