This is it (and put more succinctly than I could have). I actually want to help him adjust to it for both our benefits and my wife wants to support him to find a better home for his horses - this will benefit us admittedly. I felt it was appropriate to say he was from a travelling community for the reasons I stated and also acknowledge that that has increased my anxiety about the issues. It’s a me problem, not a him problem and I need to ensure I’m doing what I can to be protected against an adverse possession claim and that by, either by not taking actions or by acting in a way that mitigates against one, I’m protecting myself and my land.
He has hardly attacked, just called out. OP was asking some advice about land laws etc. in relation to someone using the land, said person was identified as part of a local traveller community, this may or may not have been relevant, but either way there wasn't anything negative said about the guy and OP had mentioned talking with him seemingly amicably so no reason to think otherwise.
