• Burner. Also useful to warm up your newborn when your jacket doesn't close and it's minus out!

On this topic, I want to sew a panel (using an old waterproof or some Polartec Power Grid) to zip into various technical jackets to close around the baby when wearing them in a sling. All the zips seem to be ykk 5cn but they're reversed with the coil facing inwards. I can't seem to find a matching zip online. What should I be looking for? I know this isn't the right place to ask but @Chopsicle and others have a wealth of knowledge here.

  • Get down to hobbycraft or singer or a local seamstress alteration shop and look for double ended vislon zipps .

  • Any ultra light insulated jackets expected back in this season? Realized I slept too long on a large.

  • There's stock in condor

  • I'm due a visit there as it happens, thanks

  • Thats the place i bought the gore seam seal from as well.

  • Any thoughts on mountain biking kit? I would imagine some cross-over with adventure type cycling.

Would love to know this too. I wear some of the zoa stuff when im on my mountain bike as its not roadie fit. I just picked up the all road jersey and fits nice and relaxed without being too big and will be perfect for winter mountain bike rides / gravel rides.

  • Same thoughts a page back, more zoe crossover grav/mtb/all road options please.. https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17253781/

  • Do Albion no longer make the folding packable rucksacks? I was after one but can't find them anywhere...

  • Sea2summit

Also recommend the Apidura one, though slightly more £ than the Sea2Summit mentioned above

  • second recco for the apidura one, I use mine so much

  • Took it on TPR on a whim, then barely took it off for an entire week.

Excellent mobile dustbin / water carrier / food stash / layer storage you don't really notice you're wearing

  • We tuck(ed) our burner in the back of the papoose when carrying our little one on our fronts. Certainly a good wind protector.

  • Recommend the Exped Splash (waterproof although not tiny) or even the basic decathlon ones.

  • Just arrived, very nice! Only should have ordered the socks at the same time.

  • Apologies if this has been asked already @Chopsicle will the Albion repair kit work on some Rapha classic bibs? Thanks!

  • The iron on patches? I've even used it on an old RAB down jacket

  • I'm sure they will - my missus patched a crash tear in a pair of knicks with them.

  • Albion... I really like the look of their clothing but it's never at a price point for me. The only Albion kit I own is a under helmet cap, and it's my favourite one (slightly longer, better contoured peak -doesn't make you look like a man-child like normal ones do).

As for repairs, a few years back I came off my bike on the Lea Bridge Road bike lane after a car pulled out, another cyclist slammed their breaks and I clipped their shoulder and got some cool air time. My beloved Endura kevlar stitched commuter bottoms had finally ripped at the knees. Albion and Raeburn were doing a cycling clothes repair shop that weekend so I went over.

That really nice long-haired fellow who I think works at both showed us how to repair with Sugru, and fixed up my garms with some Albion and Raeburn branded (logos, mascots) iron-on patches. I still have some and still use them, though I'm not sure the adhesive will hold up for much longer as it's been a few years.

  • will the Albion repair kit work on some Rapha classic bibs? Thanks!

heya, yes, definitely, I've found them super durable - as other people have said - I've had some for years on cotton t-shirts.

Where about is it? If it's in high stretch/return area, like back of the glutes, it might struggle over time. Both from an adhesive perspective, and then stress concentrating around the non-stretch patch can wear the fabric quicker ...if you're in London and able to wait, we'll be doing regular monthly sessions at Herne Hill, Wed night track league.

  • Hello! ....flip, I can't believe that was nearly 5 years ago. Wow.

If the patches are looking tired, running an iron over them, should remelt the adhesive. Just follow these instructions, make sure you have the tea-towel in between!

  • 5 years!? Oh snap, is that you, Graeme (checked my Brompton emails ;-) )? You'll be pleased to know that the patches are holding up well - including the one on some Gore shorts, although they've now ripped at the seam as I put on some junk in the trunk. Uncannily, I'm wearing a Moroccan hoodie with patches on the inside the pockets as we speak, and some Raeburn Vans shoes (and am right near your old unit atm) :S

Good to hear from you and thanks for the tips. That workshop completely changed my mindset about repairing and getting the most out of clothes.
