  • I don't get the Beato love, I don't trust him. Was funny to watch that episode of Home Skoolin' a while back when a bunch of the YouTube guys were in a diner in Nashville and Rick was sulking at the end of the table.

    I felt vindicated. 🤡

  • Context:

    https://youtu.be/7yRXAxQGw_k

The bloke who does “what makes this song stink” references Rick Beato whenever he talks about music theory, because Beato loves to throw in harmonic/chord theory when he’s talking about guitar parts and give “lessons” that are just him shredding in some obscure scale.

  • I think pifko's comment was a warning against going with pelham blue, not a pro-Beato move

anyway, this doesn't need to be a long discussion. SGs are red.

Did you just teensplain me? Wow, I think you did. I can read too, thanks. 😘

SGs can also be Polaris White and TV yellow!

  • can be, shouldnt be

thanks for popping my teensplain cherry (red)

  • Case closed. Next!

  • Gonna throw my 2p in - I'm a big fan of naked/brown SGs

  • When I think Pelham Blue I think this, absolutely iconic. Didn't Bilinda used to play one?

  • And on a more obscure tip, the '66 Melody Maker, which will give you a good idea of what your SG would look like, @EB.

Can you actually buy a Pelham Blue SG these days?

  • Can you actually buy a Pelham Blue SG these days?

I think they do them occasionally, 2017 they did one I think

  • OK I hear you. Probably Cherry.

  • Yeah I think they occasionally do Epi SGs and cheaper Gibsons in solid metallic red or pelham blue, to cover up the bodies being multi-part. Not at the moment tho

  • That is my reservation with Pelham Blue, as nice as it is it can look a little cheap?

  • Have you seen his guitar course and the videos on what it actually entails....

  • Anyone here use an Universal Audio OX ?

  • I haven't and I don't want to. 😋

I would love an Ox but can't justify spending that much right now. It would be super useful, not to mention awesome, to be able to use my own amps instead of the models in the DAW.

Now that I'm saying it out loud, I should just go out and buy one. 🤣

But 95% of the music I'm making at the moment is electronic, so... 🚫

  • And isn't Pelham Blue a mid-60s Gibson colour, '65-'66??

Apparently Pelham Blue, Inverness Green, and Black were custom colours available in '63 alongside a few others

  • Yes its turbo spendy. I will have to get one if I end up placing an order for a Green Matamp...

My Matamp King Street 15 watter is obscenely loud...

  • Got this recently. Like it. EL84 studio 10.

  • I think they’re nice little amps. I have the KT88 version, would like to try one of the 6L6 ones.

  • Ah, there you go. I used to know all this useless information off by heart!

  • The 6L6 is the star of the line up. IMO. My brother has it. I also have the KT88 it’s superb.

  • There are cheaper options, I've been looking at the Bugera PS-1 which is very reasonable priced and would probably do what I wanted it to do.

The frustrating thing is my favourite amp, the Super Champ, doesn't have a speaker out so whatever I got wouldn't be a complete solution.

The Ox is very nearly in Kemper territory pricewise, now that would be amazing for recording but also against my religion. And Neural Amp Modeler is free!
