Does anyone have any experience using a low-build up underfloor heating system (something like this)?
Our house has a solid concrete slab floor (that has no insulation below it), and I'm a bit confused by some of the different floor build-up options. One option make sense -- insulation panels that the pipes fit in, floor finish over the top... easy. But there is another (apparently better, more premium option) that uses Gypsum boards to hold the pipes and gain thermal mass. There doesn't seem to be any layer of insulation, so what I don't understand is what prevents those gypsum boards transmitting all the heat into the uninsulated floor slab?
