I suspected this much. Not seen many rear triangles for P/T in the past tbh. Usually only C/older Brompton style.
@Alb the marketing suggests that they're not overlapping (or at least my half-asleep interpretation of the marketing), so it probably isn't a BWR. I've asked a friend whose ridden one already, but he wasn't sure and didn't pay close attention to the internal hub.

All evidence points to it being a BWR in a different shell, although oddly I can't find an explicit claim of the overall gear range on any official Brompton material.

looks like the same hub gear ratios as the BWR

Watching that video and two things stood out,
- 10 gears not 8 (assuming its BWR), you still get to keep and use two of the overlapped gears
- That roast about P finally standing for Performance was golden lol.
@grams, when you go to buy, it still says 164%, surely they're talking about cogs in isolation.

what doesn't look great to me is - for myself if I want a wider range brompton I'm interested in two things - a lower low gear to get up hills when loaded (i.e. 25" or even lower), and some close-ish gears in the round-town-flat section (i.e. mid-60"s) that are simple to shift between. This setup still forces you to choose one or the other - they've chosen to put gears 6/7/8 in a nice round-town spot, but I don't think the low gear is really low enough. put a smaller chainring on, though, and you'll spend a lot of time flipping both shifters simultaneously around gears 7/8/9/10 :/

Good point on the 10 rather than 8 gears. Clearly hadn't had enough coffee

3 x 4 it looks like!

You've clearly thought this through. Yeah I would like lower bottom gears without having to go to a 44t. I currently use a 54t, though I plan to move back to a 50t.

3 speed hub with 4 sprockets as others have said!
Pity it's not a 12 speed hub! -
• #14761
Shifting with 2 shifters and having to shift all the way over at the cogs for each hub shift seems like a lot of faff for a stop and start urban bike

This has prob been covered before, but cldnt see anything in a search. What's best storage option for Brompton inside? IKEA kallax? Looks like their dims might have changed...the only box that'd fit a folded Brompton has 4 part divider in it. Presumably cld be made without divider and still be rigid enough...anyone done it?

If I didn’t have the dividers I’d definitely want some braces in the corners, especially if it’s going to get bumped and jostled with getting the bike in and out. It’s probably ok, but definitely not perfectly solid without the dividers in.

Just in case anyone is interested, Evans are doing 20% certain Brompton models, which is the first time in a long time I have seen any discounts on them

I use an IKEA BAGGMUCK under my desk at home: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/baggmuck-shoe-mat-in-outdoor-grey-60329711/
That way the Brompton is only occupying otherwise unusable space.

Broken handlebar catch: Nothing at Frankenbike or Balfe’s, though both could order it. Condor to the rescue just now. Thanks for the suggestions

Kallax is more rigid than you think, and there’s so little space around the bike you can’t actually bash it that hard. Finding a nice holding point to insert the bike reasonably level is hard, I’m wondering about using one of the dividers to bodge a “drawer” so I can place it on that then slide it in. Plenty deep enough. Room for a helmet too. I’ve got an extended seat post and a fairly set back saddle for reference

I was searching for these the other day, but for the life of me I couldn’t find them. The yellow is good.

I heard a rumour of a 'G' line launching this year - 20" wheels, disc brakes & 8 spd alfine
-
• #14771
Someone definitely posted upthread a 20 inch wheelset bike that had been spotted somewhere in London's famous London.
The G line only works if there is a collabo (deliberate use of the word) with this band, after all it looks as if Bear Grylz doesn't appear to have anything to do with small foldable bikes...

I've heard of these 20" rumours too. Not sure how realistic it is for Brompton to release that.

• #14773
What’s a ‘normal’ gear ratio for a single speed Brompton? Good fitness, no elevation (the Netherlands), no load. Thanks in advance.
-
• #14774
Stock is 54/12 (75"). I'm on 54/14t and it's on the lighter side but works for hills. Perhaps try 75" if you've not got hills?

Ta.
If that is in fact a BWR then in practice it's effectively an 8sp setup due to the overlapped gears...
