Speaking as someone that recognizes those traits in ones self.... It probably won't. It's likely gonna need you to be ready in the right headspace. Sometimes you're just not. Which is ok too.

maybe target an event you are looking forward to in the spring, and a couple of items of clothing you would like to wear to it, but no longer fit.

Yesterday 69.3, today 70.3. Piss off you bastard scales

Down to 82.9 today, 4kg in the last two weeks. Admittedly a lot more exercise than I usually do (not overdoing it tho) but mostly more mindful eating

Thoughts welcome!
My weight is going down consistently (measuring weekly). I'm about 1.75kg down in a couple of weeks.
I don't have loads to lose to be honest - the goal is essentially to maintan current wait but change my body composition: fat-> muscle.
Thoughts on the best way to reduce fat and add muscle without going down the BULKING route?
Is what I'm looking for called a lean bulk? I know nothing about this.
I'm counting calories to a small deficit (hence the weight loss),consuming 150g-200g of protein a day, eating lots of fruit and veg.
Am I overlooking anything? Should I be focusing on anything else? -

My motivation has been non existent recently as well! Maybe it's the shit weather? Anyway, I'm up to nearly 64kg from closer to 61kg after Christmas and not really getting back in the swing of healthy eating afterwards. I'm posting here to try and give myself a kick up the arse to not undo the hard work I put in last year! The blanket ban on crisps is back in effect.

sounds like a lean bulk / maingaining, which involve a small calorie surplus, with a high protein intake and resistance training.
What you're doing right now sounds like a recomp - small deficit / maintenence, high protein, resistance training.
the only thing you haven't mentioned which is important to the goal you've mentioned is some kind of resistance training. Bodyweight / weights / whatever, but the body won't prioritise the maintenance or building of muscle without adequate stimulus.

Yeah I missed that bit.
Cardio - I'm doing about 4-5hours on the bike, a 7k run
Resistance - 3 * 70-90min gym sessions a week
and trying to get at least 10k steps in on all other days.Maybe a few more calories then.
Edit. Thanks! Nice to have a bit of reassurance!

Has anyone noticed a jump in weight the day after eating some bread?
-
• #561
As I understand it, if you eat a load of something carby (like bread), your body retains more water.

Weight check today 103 kg... it's a start

I cut bread out entirely for a while and lost weight. Not sure if that’s a correlation

Ok target hit. 68kg
That was quick…with NoomHere’s the thing though; I just checked my settings. I was set up as a woman 5 years younger and 10cm shorter than I am. I know I can be cack handed but it would be weird for me to enter all three measures incorrectly.
This explains why it was pretty gruelling, but quick losing 4.5kg in 29 days. I was eating under what I should have been. Finally for an app the farts out meaningless positive proclamations, I hit the weight target and there has been no acknowledgement. Like an abusive parent my achievement is ignored.
Seriously sketchy app to be honest. Subscription cancelled

1-Jan 88kg
8-Jan 86kg
29-Jan 85kgSlow going but in the right direction. I can keep on top of the calorie targets on weekdays but weekends are more of a challenge. 3kg in 4 weeks is probably about right though in terms of a sustainable pace.

That’s a good clip, I wouldn’t be too frustrated. Also a nice steady consistent decrease should be the aim so well done

I’ve been travelling a bunch this month and back off to the states twice and Middle East again this month. Good for the amount of exercise I manage but eating healthy when travelling is tough.

Had a weekend in Paris so expected the wheels to have come off but hoofing it around and mostly sitting drinking, not eating meant it wasn't as bad as expected.
4 weeks ago: 86.9kg, today 82.2

77.6kg today. Down from 87ish around November last year.
Definitely the leanest I’ve been as an adult, and most importantly I feel so much better than I have previously when I’ve tried to lose weight. Fasting from dinner: 6pm-ish to noon is very manageable. I’ll throw a protein bar or some toast in if I need it after training on an evening.
Cardio improves so much when I’m not eating shit! -

And 77kg today - I just checked and that makes my BMI 25!
Interestingly I just noticed the thing that says my waist should be about half my height to be healthy. I’m 69 inches tall but only 31.1 round the waist - I hadn’t expected the metric to be so favourable compared to BMI. Although I’m not sure how confident that I’d consider myself “healthy” when my waist is up to 34.5 inches. It’s also weird. One thing that I’ve noticed with fasting and eating less, is that I’ve definitely become a lot more comfortable with hunger, and how I now eat to become “not hungry” rather than eating to become full. It’s a small change but after years of struggling with self control with food, I find it really interesting that I’m now able to avoid just gorging on food when it’s there, and instead I have a much better sense of what to aim for. Eg “I’m going to eat x, y, z for dinner, and that will do” rather than feeling the stress of being hungry, and wanting to literally feed that urge by making or taking too much food.

Up to 9 Big Macs a day, now at aged 70 down to only 2 a day.
Not, from the photo, particularly fat
Genetics? I have often thought that if you think about dogs, for example, I have a whippet who literally no matter what he eats, never puts on an ounce of fat. I have in fact only seen one overweight whippet ever. Labradors on the other hand are almost never not fat...

Good progress here, down to 78.8 on the weigh in this morning, from a starting weight of 91kg.
I want to be consistently below eighty kgs and ideally around seventy five, which feels totally achievable.
I am loving finding all my old clothes being comfortable again!

Great stuff.
I weighed just over 80kgs when I landed in Oz 8/9 years ago. I've gone up to 105kgs since then, not cycling as much as I did in London was the main culprit but learning to drive, changing job and covid all helped to pile on the pounds.
Exercise is difficult as my left knee is a bit fucked so I'm trying a keto diet to get me down to an easier weight so I can get a bit more exercise happening. I've dropped 4kgs in the last month, I don't really look any different but I do feel better. It's a good start, I feel positive.

...I managed to keep the scale under a 100 with 99,1kg at 1,81m at the beginning of January.
An injury made me balloon up from 94kgs (still way too much) from Sept. 1st.Then did dry January to keep things on check which used to work splendidly when under 30.
End of January; 99,1kg. 25/26% BF.Started Huel again, including the hot meals for evenings.
I am now in my final 8th week of rehab for the aforementioned injury. It's not a 100% yet, and will continue to exercise to get it as close to there as possible.
Now 5 weeks in at about 92kgs. 22% BF.If I keep this on I reckon I could get down to 85 quite easily till the end of April. Should end up at around 19% BF which is the apparently healthy % for my age bracket.
Under 85kgs is already quite good for my physique. If I get it down towards 80kgs I'ld already be chuffed but life and all that. In my adult life the leanest I was was 78kgs and that's 15 years ago with very much cycling which I just can't fit into life anymore.
I'm really struggling to find motivation after the break I had over the December and the holidays.
Hovering around 82.5kg, after having gone down from 91 to 81kg.
Target one was to go sub 80kg with an ultimate goal of 75kg.
I seem to have lost will power on a whole host of things (weight loss, daily laundry, flossing).
I know that I need to do kickstart myself back into action and that I'll be glad if I do. Problem is that I have never, in my forty five years, found the magic incantation that works.
Maybe this post will help....
