Well, I don't get where the hate is coming from. Since becoming a parent I don't ride as far and the power on my phone is fine for both navigation and photos on sub 100km rides.
The case itself is mega sturdy and has prevented multiple cracked screens (I imagine). And it works on all our bikes and in the car... So I can't see what's not to love. Yes it is expensive and yes you have to pay extra to get black mounts. But it's still way cheaper than buying a nice cycling specific device+ good impact proof phone cage + something to hold the phone in the outdated Renault.

where the hate is coming from.
hate? I think Amey was fairly tongue in cheek and I'm an actual user of the thing in question.
I have a Spigen case currently and haven't bothered to stick a Garmin mount to it: because the phone is bigger and because my 1030+ lasts long enough and has so far been reliable enough that I'm not having to navigate using my phone (much). It'd be a nice to have still but I don't really want to add more bulk to the case.

Getting a quad lock case has made my touring way better. It is a bit fiddly having two mounts on my bars (quad lock and etrex) but I can't see anything that does both.
Etrex gets you to town, phone gets you around town.
Also useful if you're in a new city or going somewhere you've not been before.

I also rate quadlock. Sure there’s the Garmin, but sometimes you don’t need, want or have the garmin. The quadlock is great for those times.

Yay! As famous as elastic insoles
But great little review and lovely to see reference to this lovely place - which really is at the core of everything I make

Honjos are simply the best. Proper length, beautiful radius, nice hardware, Japanese.
The picture tells me Gilles Berthoud though. Horizontal stay holes, guards wrapped in blue see through plastic. Am I wrong?

No maybe you are right actually. Thought they were Honjos. Didn't buy them and havent opened the hardware yet. They look amazing in this size and more "flat" in their profile than GB I have owned before in smaller sizes. Blue plastic yes

• #8521
Yes they are in fact Berthoud. Easier to source in France.

It’s really cool to see all the tools you’ve made, and the various ways you’ve streamlined the fabrication process.

excellent video, great cages
I was planning on doing a rack for it. And I would like them to attach to the top of the fork legs.
