They are trying to defend motorcyclists, those bastions of sensible riding we see every day.

Surely they do a bit better than "YEH BUT NO BUT YEH BUT CYCLISTS ARE WANKERS"?!
Edit: I mean not that cyclists aren't wankers, but it's not really the issue at hand in this story

I'm being massively hypocritical, too. I am a twat with deeply recidivist tendencies on a motorbike.
Paragon of virtue on my bicycle though.

lol - but it is possible to use them against each other - I regularly get carved up in the cycle lane by a silver GS1300 - Reg: LOOT .
The other night he raced up into the ASL, narrowly beaten by a very scary looking bloke on a GSX1000, I leaned over and asked the GSX'er to burn the GS1300 away - explaining the daily issues - and lights went green and he obliged in fine style

It's all a bit pot/kettle.
I do wish that the motorcycles would congregate in the right hand side of the ASL, rather than spreading evenly across it, then doing that "shakes head slowly" thing they do when they end up trying to move away surrounded by cyclists on the left hand side of the box.

I drive a motorbike, and a cycle. I favour the slow head shake on either, alternating to the less passive finger wag or occasional tut. Other than that, I try to get a bit of fucking perspective and relax.

I ride both and two wheels, one with an engine and one without just doesn't mix. It's nice to pick and choose who to hate on what day.

Latest guidance from DfT for local authorities.
Wherever it is appropriate to do so, local councils should allow motorcyclists to use bus lanes. Implying shared use is the default unless this would be inappropriate.https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/motorcyclists-using-bus-lanes-tal-124
Are you two actually arguing that the people of LFGSS think that cyclists are wonderful, perfect, considerate road users? Seriously?
