Rear puncture with torn sidewall from mudguard bracket rubbing with 20km to go to a training course I really needed to get to. Ripped the DIY damp proof course mud flap off the mudguard to make a tyre boot. Got me there and back.

No pictures, I forgot my belt today for my work trousers but was able to adjust my hrm strap to do the job, it worked perfectly.

Took off old wrapped inner tube chainstay protector to find it has trapped water and started to corrode paint. That’s what Brillo pads and hammerite are for…
Mk2 no buy solution - chopstick and zip ties. Squared off end makes it nice and stable and raises it a bit so no trapping of water.
Really quiet more than before !

Need another for emergency snacks.

Did you use clip the unit back onto the strap as a faux buckle though?

And lube chain with sesame oil

I considered it but opted not to.

Finally figured out how to attach the wald on a thruaxle, 135 qr!

Very good

Well, aint that something. Might just give that a go. Any washers in there to separate/protect the axle from the stays?

Dyno light mounted between pad nut and outer side of brake arm. Not mine just saw it a while back.

What's the crazy (cool) finish on the forks?
-
• #3064
I was going to ask the same question. Looks like sequins held on with wax or pva glue

dragon scales

Is the brake lever to adjust the light while riding?
-
• #3067
Didn't bother atm, I suspect the damage to the axle is minimal and can live with it

not my picture but wondering if a caliper brake could be mounted on a similar frame

It's quite a long drop.
-
• #3070
yes, but still good to have it implied that in theory it would work, maybe the frame i have in mind has a lower bridge (old touring frame)
-
• #3071
That frame appears to be have a threaded boss on the backside of the bridge for mudguards. If yours has no threaded bit, then you'll need a caliper that has a nutted mount rather than for recessed brake bolts. Ideally with the concave washers to grab the bridge, too.
-
• #3072
Or just drill out the bridge to suit modern calipers.

I suppose we are hack/bodging over here after all.

Post mount adaptor as a very effective lamp bracket. The belly of the bracket neatly hugs the body of the lamp.

That’s really neat that, good hack!
Neatly executed.
