" Ticket machines at train stations charge passengers more than double than what they would cost online for some journeys, according to analysis.

Consumer group Which?'s research said same-day rail tickets were 50% more expensive on average at stations.

The best value fares were either unavailable or hidden among several options on many machines. "

more free money for train companies, bunch of cunts AGAIN, yet they still refuse to give their employees a decent wage rise

  • I did a piece of work for DfT, back in the day. Assessing the gain/pain mechanism for Train Operating Companies operating on the UK network.

The ORR wanted to hear the findings.

Put it this way, I had to have a conversation with my contact in DfT along the lines "you know I can't sugar-coat this for the ORR. It's going to be a grim meeting when I present the findings - have some answers ready".

Exec summary was along the lines: TOCS are allowed to take the piss. So they do.
