I'm wondering if this might work for me since my daily rider was hit by a car... What's the tyre clearance like?
-
• #15
Its been said before but 30 mill max rear.
-
• #16
Doh sorry - read the first post but not the whole thread. Is that definitely right for this model though (as I thought they'd been making these for a few years and clearance may have changed from model to model)?

If you want more than 30 mm maybe look elsewhere.
-
• #18
I can live with 30mm but don't want to find that doesn't actually fit, that's all!
-
• #19
30mm confirmed. I'm SE London (lewisham) so let me know if you want to come and have a gander.

Thanks - yep might take you up on that, thanks; just doing some checking of geo etc + thinking if I can make it work and I'll give you a shout about a viewing, I'm only in se23

Did this sell?
Is it easy to bring this back to a 2x by set up?
Thanks,

I think it would require a change of rear mech too but not 100% sure. I guess you could also look at the range on the rear cassette if you needed more in one direction.
-
• #23
What is the range? What is the size of the front chain ring?
-
• #24
A Force 1 rear mech can shift up to a 42t sprocket officially and a 46t sprocket unofficially so they do provide a lot of range.
If you don't mind some fairly large gaps between sprockets then that'd be the cheapest and easiest way of doing things. A longer chain would obviously be needed as well.

Depends on the F1 derailleur, SRAM make a short cage and a medium cage version. The short can only go up to 36T officially. Looks like the cassette on there is a 32, so it may be the short cage version.
