  • It's fully batshit. My new conspiracy theory is that we're seeing the actual end of times.

With nutjob evangelicals in high positions, hastening the apocalypse is an actual agenda item - to bring on the Rapture, omfg

AFAIK, USUKA (AUKUS, but actually USUKA) was cooked up by Scummo and Pompeo; a couple of psycho evangelical bedfellows... Pissing off the French was just a bonus for those fuckheads.

The most galling bit is that our nominally, allegedly, 'Labor' government is continuing the policy. Or maybe it's that USUKA is a reason to hope for fucking Trump's election, since he may well scupper the deal and save us poor SUKAs in Oz from sending a trillion fucking dollars to the US military industrial complex.

    This one totally bears repeating

  • She always has a story about Teslas killing people/ shutting down / catching fire.

I've posted this elsewhere on this forum, but electric cars being more prone to fires is a myth: Google translated news story from Norwegian news

  • Sorry for going back to heat pumps but why is everyone upset about them in the UK? Almost every house has one here in Sweden. Is it a political thing?

  • Is it a political thing?

It's a bullshit thing, like everything else we do.

  • As a serious answer it's in part because we've got a load of badly insulated properties and if you were forced to bring some properties (mine included) up to spec to work with a heat pump it would cost you tens of thousands of pounds. They're also big, noisy and ugly.

More realistically though it's probably a combination of them being new/unknown and owning the libs.

  • The personal is political

  • I don't think they're much bigger, noisier or uglier than a boiler, but they are outside and there are a lot of terraced houses in the UK that might make placing them correctly awkward. It's probably just oil cunts being friends with newspaper cunts though.

  • People here don't like being told what to do. (Except when they do of course).

So it's basically being told you need something new that's shit and will cost you loads of money because some nonce somewhere is telling you that you've got to have one.

That rhetoric is also pushed by media organisations owned by billionaires, who for whatever reason push back on anything that has a whiff of combating climate change, despite the vast majority of people being in favour of being able to live on this planet. (not that I think heat pumps in and of themselves are going to save the world).

  • sort-of political blahs that are cracking you up at the moment

  • Strong page so far

  • Apparently Everyone in her town was outraged because the school had provided a litter tray for a pupil who identified as a cat.

This one is in the new Jon Ronson podcast series as it happens... speaks to the teacher who was probably the reason for the conspiracy theory.

  • You can stick a boiler in a cupboard though. You can't do that with a heat pump.

  • No ones mentioned the impending threat of a cashless society yet…

  • What's an outside cupboard called?

  • Has to be partially because noone knows how the hell they work too right?

Boiler is easy to understand, heat pumps nah so much.

  • Does it have anything to do with magnets?

  • There's also an element that the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is often abused by the installers who know that they can charge more for a job because much/all of the bill is going to be paid for by the scheme.

Although I do get that it's probably cheaper for the Govt to just pay out £7500 for each boiler upgrade grant rather than attempt to work out who is taking the piss or not, but still.

  • Alrighty then.
