Yeah, thanks, but deffo no Macs for me.
I just need to find one of those black HP SFF PCs for cheapz now.
and probably buy another couple of mechanical keyboards so my wireless one can be used with it.

There's a Keychron K2 up for cheap on the Mech Keyboards thread right now....

You want one of these, they bounce very well which is handy because you'll be dropping it a lot off the sofa

I think I have a spare one in the attic somewhere if you want it cheap

That does look pretty neat with the touchpad built in (I hate touch pads though but for just controlling Plex or whatever it could be a neat solution). Especially so given my wireless mouse powers down all the time and I have to click a button to wake it, which inevitably pauses or clicks something onscreen, stupid fucking mouse bastard.

Thanks. Looks like it has been claimed.
I have one of Velocio's old keyboards. I can't actually remember what it is but it's $$ to replace. I gave my missus my wireless Logitech now it has a new battery and I'm sticking with my old HP keyboard on the laptop until it fully dies and then I'll get a mech one.

I have one of those, they're decent. Although for the main for my HTPC I just used Plex HTPC or Kodi with the PLex add-in with a remote control.

Sounds interesting! What's your field? I'm not really a 'data scientist,' just pretend to be one in front of students (or occasional employers). I'm more of a substantive user of methods - applying them to particular domains to - hopefully - say scholarly interesting things. As well as being a critical commentator, I suppose.
Btw, Google says Tensor Flow does default to CPU if the GPU isn't compatible (so that may not be the bug(s) I'm facing - could be the AMD CPU is incompatible some how, or just not able to do the stuff I'm asking it to do).
Anyway, guess I'm buying an Nvidia card. Back to the drawing board.

BIOS clock losing track of time is the motherboard battery telling me it's definitely time to get the new machine ordered, isn't it?
-
• #9285
You tried replacing the CMOS battery?

You tried replacing the CMOS battery?
I could do that, or I could just buy a whole new computer. This thing has a Core i5-3340, it's time.

If you want ultra profile on zwift, there is a bit more to it than integrated graphics and apple TV. There is a zwift masters group on Facebook with the best advice going.
If you join it, read the files before you ask a question!

I don't really have a field just now. I'm on an extended study break / sabbatical.
My non-academic pursuits are, theoretically, domain independent, but will have to start as fintech, as that's where the two of us have been for 20 years. The other partner has a software engineering background (in the not-a-dev sort of way), and I'm theoretically bringing the data sciency bit.

if anyone else is realising they can't use ctrl-w or some other kb shortcuts in last day or two and you're running samsung magician, somehow it is responsible for breaking this functionality until you update it.
just did it and can confirm it resolves the issue. was pure luck i found the reddit post where someone had figured it out.

Glad you’re happy with it. Very hard to beat them for ease of setup and value for money for zwift.

Do you need anything special to link zwift with an old Tacx TT, or do you need some sort of modern thing?

Had noticed youtube being dog-slow on my PCs recently and wondered if adblock might be the cause...
-
• #9296
It seems alright at the moment. You can use this site to check if Ublock currently works:
https://drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/and for the times it doesn't work you can use adskipper:

I left my laptop charger on the other side of the country with a week of work ahead of me - would an Anker or Ugreen offering the same wattage, delivered overnight from Amazon, somehow kill my laptop?
Lenovo P14s gen3 / 100w usb c charger. -

Either will work fine.

Should be ok. I've been using one for my Lenovo yoga something for the last year or so

Thanks both, great to hear
Don't know if you specifically want a PC but older Mac Minis are cheap now.
I got a 2012 recently for exactly this (the last model where RAM/discs can be upgraded).
It's an A1347 with the most powerful processor they had at the time (i7-3720QM 2.6Ghz), 16Gb of RAM, a 120Gb SSD and 1Gb HDD. Easily upgraded to Sonoma with Opencore Legacy Patcher. It was £120 delivered in grade A condition and looks a lot nicer than a PC :P
