I was thinking of converting my 2 speed to 3 speed using the external derailleur. It’s a 2013 model with the older “rabbit ear” shifter.
Am I correct I’m correct in thinking that I just need:
Friction thumb shifter (Sunrace M96) 3 cogs (repurposed from a 11 speed Shimano cassette) 11 speed chain Thinner circlip
Anything else I need to be aware of?
Stronger spring, barrel nut, in-line barrel adjuster.
Ah nice thanks, is the spring required because of the aftermarket shifter? Can the rabbit ear shifter be modified to have a third gear?
Alternatively, do you think I could get away with wider gaps between the existing 2 speed cogs, either 11/17 or 11/18 depending on frame clearance.
Got a suggestion for the stronger spring? I sometimes think my dropper remote shifting woes are due to that.
