Why have you come into the cannondale thread if you hate them so much?

I’ve found a NOS Caad 5 not far from me. Is €400 a fair price?

I might get it for less if I get some more bits

Or do I do a full refurb on a Caad 4 aero…?
-
• #16582
I’ve recently sold saeco framesets with top tube dents for ~300
So id say 400 for NOS is fair.
On the other hand, size is very and I am personally not a big fan of the tribals
But bottom line everything under 500 is not unfair

Size is very?
I’d probably remove the wiggly decals, I don’t like them either. -
• #16584
Small sorry
52 judging from the decal near the BB and the short HT

I wouldn’t risk that cos it might look weird then you’ve ruined a nos frame. Might look like a fake saeco or summat.
I guess that would be a cannondale Faeko

Dey prolly clearcoated anyway no?

They’re saying it’s a 54. I’m only 5’8 and I’ve heard that a 52 might even be better for me. Is it a nightmare to remove the decals? I’m assuming they’re under clear

Ha

This is a 54. I’m 179 cm and saddle height is 72cm if it helps at all
-
• #16590
Size 54 has more space at the headtube junction
Sticker says 52
They might measure it 54 but official size engraved under BB is the only way
-
• #16591
Thanks. Saddle height seems low. Stand over is normally higher than that.

Hot.

If you can remove them. That’s supposed to be the old Cipo No Skin Suit no?
-
• #16594
Probably best to leave them.

What’s the thoughts on plan B and restore a Caad 4 aero I can pick up for peanuts?
-
• #16597
Yes there’s one on eBay now but the problem is he won’t ship and I’m in Italy. It’s a full respray job though and I’m not sure it’s really suited to road cycling around Puglia where they’re crap.
-
• #16598
Ok, the new one is now a 52 which is probably not an issue for my carcass as my other bikes are 53. I’ve seen a used Caad 3 but can’t make out the size. I think it’s a 54, but the problem is I’ve got to get it shipped to Italy from Germany and it’s probably going to cost the same…

There was one of these frames for sale on here for £100 a couple of weeks ago.
They come up often on here or ebay, I'd just wait a little and find a cheap one locally.
I’m not saying it’s impossible to make a creak-free press-fit BB, but Cannondale have failed widely, repeatedly and notoriously. And comparing BB30 to BSA threaded BBs and even hollow tech BBs is chalk and cheese in terms of durability, user-friendliness and creakiness.
Shimano can obviously manufacture and press some big-ass bearings into a tube of their own with very high consistency. A BB shell is a million miles away from the tube of a square taper BB. It doesn’t get welded for a start.
