The accused? Crimes against the laws of good taste?

Some of it can be quite poor, I've had a shirt fall apart at the cuff and the replacement has lost the stitching for one of the button holes, though that may be an issue with the fabric choice more than the construction.

knitted toes
Maybe try some relaxation techniques to relieve this level of stress?

I've had a load of shirts, jumpers and overshirts from them, for 5+ years, plus buying on ebay and been really happy with the quality, all seemingly aligned with their normal price points. Clearly others have had a different experience, but I have no qualms in recommending from my personal experience.

Cheers for the info - I may just wander down to the local TK Maxx tomorrow, and see if by any chance they have any Folk products in I can look at.
-

That's my experience too, but the jeans I got from them via TK maxx don't really seem to be quite as well made as the older stuff. I wonder if they use different suppliers / the cheaper stuff is what ends up going to the outlet sellers?

Don't lots of brands make straight to discount retailer products?
Tkm do always seem to have an awful lot of Folk stuff.
-
• #5034
Interesting! I'm sure they do, all I will say for Folk is that the stuff turning up in TK Maxx now is basically the same stuff they had in their end of year stock sale so am inclined to think it's just the usual stock being sold through but I may well be wrong.

Has anyone bought from House of Huntington before? Seems to be lots of past season stuff at decent discounts.
-

They just look like an end of line reseller, pretty hokey website. I wouldn’t buy from them on the basis of such a terrible name!

What do people do to clean cashmere jumpers?
My OH has some nice cashmere stuff that's been gifted which has a dry clean only label. A cursory Google says its about £9 to dry clean a jumper.
Is that right?
Any other options?
Cheers

How often would they need cleaning? Not very.

Having toddler-sized a few cherished cashmere bits, bite the bullet and dry clean. Unless you really get them mucky you should be able to wear for yonks between washes.

Hand wash and dry flat works for me.
-
• #5042
Hand wash, as infrequently as you can get away with. I was once told to use shampoo not detergent, which seems to work ok

Bitd Woolite was closer to a mild shampoo than a laundry detergent.

Shampoo is bad as its meant to make your hair not greasy. Wool wants to keep it's natural grease.
Use wool stuff. -

And you should be able to wash everything wool by hand with a wool detergent.
Warm, maybe 20-30 degrees Celsius.
Slosh, don't squeeze. Dry flat. Maybe roll gently between towels after washing.
My nice wool sweaters get a hand wash with loads of gentle rinsing maybe once a season, less nice stuff goes in the machine in wool program without tumble. -

The most important tip for washing of woolen articles is never to let my otherwise lovely wife near them. She has a talent for shrinking everything of mine to fit her at 5' and 48kg, or failing that, a hamster.

Most wool that you buy these days has virtually no lanolin left in it.
-
• #5048
That's possible, but I keep with the advice I got twenty years ago from the textiles guy.
And I can tell by touch when one of my abused merino shirts lands in the wash with normal colour detergent.
Apart from that quite a lot of my stuff is vintage or quite nice. I even use a wool treatment that has lanolin in it. -

Do it the scandi way and hang outside on a cold misty day

Having seen all these check coats coming back into style, I dug my vintage Aquascutum trench out of loft that I bought nigh on twenty years ago in Canada. It’s mildly depressing when your clothes come back into fashion.

Great shout on the Folk stuff, some of their stuff looks really nice. Is Folk good quality, i'm not familiar with the brand personally.
