Not quite the same level of wealth but a very long time ago a friend won a treadmill on ebay and went to a nice house to collect it, it was Chris Evans who answered the door, I was surprised at a multimillionaire disposing of stuff on ebay, although the treadmill had mainly been used by billie piper apparently
I once won a touring bike on Ebay, took a train out to Kent to collect it and the owner picked me up from the train station in an old vw estate to go and see the bike. Nothing unusual so far...
We pull up to a house, not dissimilar to the one in that link, and what goes though my head is 'this is probably a national trust site and he works here'. He pulls up to a garage, bike is leaning up against the door, and at that point I twig that there are a variety of vintage cars and it was probably his house.
He was called Barnaby Swire, is a billionaire, and was as enthusiastic about bikes and cycling as anyone I've ever met. I'm sure he is completely detached from normal life, but he was selling things on ebay and we had cycling in common.
