  • . Repeat of breath the air from the spare tyre.

  • Jason Statham in the transporter did the same.

  • What is the major design flaw in most new cars of recent years that prevents you opening the door underwater?

    British drivers

And how lucrative is the target market for the solution?

    Millions of soggy British drivers?

  • Any recommendations for a Schrader to presta adapter that doesn't unscrew your valve cores? Cheers

  • What’s the current lock/locking combo of choice these days in London? Not sure my ten year old orange kryptonite is up to standard now.

  • I was also interested in this. Did you get anywhere with it? Feels like it would be pretty awkward getting a plug in whilst it's covered in vulcanising solution etc but it's also awkward having a plug fly out at high velocity whilst trying to pump the tyre up again.

  • Newer krytos lock both ends of the shackle which is nice. There's also something called litelok x1 or something which is apparently very hard to saw through. Costs 150 tho.

  • Maybe keep it for the front wheel? Downtown, an additional kryptonite mini7 or Evo through the frame and rear wheel, depending on how much you don’t want to lose the bike. Also bearings glued in the stem etc bolts.

  • I mean, I've not tried it before but it seems like a good idea to make bigger plugged holes more likely to remain sealed so I guess I might try it next time I'm not in a hurry or struggle to get a plug to work. I'm not going to crack open my glue just for shits and gigs but once the plug is in, dabbing with superglue or vulc glue might help keep it there.

  • Now that Wild Honeys are finally available again, thinking of picking up a pair.

They have a reach of 104mm, and my current ZIPP ones are 70mm. Is it recommended to drop my stem back a bit to make up for this?

Or are the wild honeys designed for this? Any users?

    Ta

  • Pitlock is my go to, lighter than a lock and just as good as a deterrent for the front wheel.

  • I currently have standard aluminium rims with 28c tyres squeezed onto my road bike. It's very tight but it does ok when theres no mud involved.

My question is would '28mm External Width / 21mm Internal Width' carbon rims increase the width and height of the tyre or by some luck would they actually make a more uniform shaped profile, i.e., not balloon off the rim and miraculously fit in my frame and forks?

  • Moving the same tyre to a wider rim usually increases the tyre profile width and lowers the profile height.

  • That's what I was thinking. Currently they're quite tall on the rim but I think a bit more width could even things out.

  • It's going to be a pretty small difference, if you're short of clearance now you'll still be short of clearance afterwards.

  • I use a shorter stem with my long nitto noodles so I have hoods in the same spot.

  • Thanks. Yeah should have mentioned I have pitlocks, and magnetic hex things in the allen bolts, looking at the main lock.

Cheers @Belagerent will look at them

  • Webflow nerds.

I'm building a site in Webflow. Quite enjoying it so far but have hit a snag. I've used elements from a template I bought for one specific section.

The section is a batch of case studies. The templated version had 5 case studies. I added 2 via the CMS tool > case study collection > New Case Study. So now there are 7. They're all populated.

The end result should be two columns with an image in the left with a case study title over it and a link button. Then a client name on the right in a row by row format. Clicking on the client name on the right changes the image/title/link on the left.

This all works fine for the first (original) 5 case studies. But the new ones show the correct title on the left but the image from Case Study 5. Clicking the link on the left also takes you to Case Study 5.

Does anything scream out at anyone as 'aha, you're an idiot because you've forgotten to....'

EDIT: solved - I think. I've changed the Display Limits on each collection list wrapper and it is at least displaying correctly - whether that's as intended or not is another matter.

  • Anyone know where to get the most up to date ongoing status of the Fréjus (France/Italy) rail tunnel blockage, primarily the planned date it will reopen?

    https://www.sftrf.fr/InfoliveDocuments/alternat_janvier_2024_maj_3.01.24.pdf

    gives:-

    "
TUNNEL DU FRÉJUS : ALTERNATS DE CIRCULATION ET FERMETURES
Du 1 er janvier au 4 février 2024
Fermeture totale du tunnel du Fréjus
du vendredi 26 janvier 22h00 au lundi 29 janvier 6h00
    "

The alternative crossing to the South was fine last Friday (5th Jan) as we got a coach over from Sauze d'Oulx to Montgenevre to do some French skiing for a day.

[EDIT] Ah - just noticed you said rail tunnel. Oops.

  • Thanks for the link but yes rail, doesn't seem to be much out there and estimations there are say not open until late Summer 24. A holiday requires a bit of replanning if it isn't open. The (alternative?) road tunnel I understand was affected but they were able to open that within a few weeks.

  • I did and there are other options through Switzerland and along the French south coast but all take significantly more time, which I'm trying to minimise with restless children in tow, you know!

  • Any recommendations for a glue to hold together some plastic that is under slight tension and torque? My daughter stepped on my headphones and broke part of the headband. I tried some loctite superglue powerflex last night and left it over night but it broke instantly again this morning.

  • Might have to glue some sort of plate across the fractured part if there isn't enough edge to glue together. Or drill holes and cable tie?
