Yep! On the flip side, I really want to put electronic shifting on my MTB. I've not yet ripped a RD off (although my current one doesn't really work that well any more after doing one of Skinny's events) but I can imagine as soon as I fit it, I'll kill it and cry at the replacement cost.

This is why i have never ridden electronic gears. I don't want to fall in love and then realise it's an expensive amouré

I rode this whilst I was over in NZ for a day and soon realised ill never be able to afford something so blingy in my life and now it's ruined mountain biking for me forever...
Electric gears really are totally different level, if I could afford I would

I could definitely afford it but I would need to sacrifice something else. Fewer bikes for example. Also I like the environmental aspect of restoring, repairing and generally keeping older nice stuff like 10sp alive.

That ship has sailed. We are probably quite different use cases but for ultra stuff and travel and now lazy maintenance me, I'd not look back.
Mechanical shifting on my MTB was probably a mistake - my right thumb is always one of the most painful body parts after rides (after my shredded arse, obvs).

Yeah I totally agree with that sentiment, great mentality to have.
Next bike 2x6 friction?

Nah I am still sane

Tenerife is lush. But the kids got sick on the plane and now my wife is under the weather so no actual cycling yet. Hoping I get away untouched. I fucking hope I didn't make and bring this bike without getting to try it. The bike did make it down here without any issues and is still in mint condition.

Looks great I want one

This is doable. I am thinking about offering up my own design for the frame but with a similar detachable rear system. I need to do some more testing and make sure everything is great but then maybe...

have you got any pics of it "folded" or "packed"?

This was enough in a soft bag without padding.
I am trying to get Tijmen to make a prototype bag that is smaller/tighter fitting than this scicon and that will be able to transform into a backpack.
For a train ride you could avoid the foam tubes probably and if you had a padded suitcase you could fly with less tubing as well.If its not clear from the photos i left the rear wheel in the rear triangle and only removed the from wheel and had a dummy axle in the forks.
My dream scenario is to offer a folding monster rinko gravel thingy at some point.
I am thinking the rear ends, yokes and forks could be done in batches and then it's only the front triangle that is custom geo.
I could also sell these rear ends to be retrofited to already made frames

batch production of parts sounds like a really smart move!
and the possibility to have a fitting bag along with sounds nice - a bit like what Bike Friday offers. -

Well yes, but like so many other things I plan it goes to shit when you involve two children.
