  • Anyone here use fountain pens?
I have a Kaweco Sport in brass that I like and use all the time, thinking about getting the mini converter, any opinions?

  • As usual, there's a thread for that. Activity tailed off but most of the stylophiles are still on here.

  • YES pen friends.

  • Bluetooth bathroom scales - yes or no? Need a new set of scales, worth stumping up for the Bluetooth feature?

  • Useful for tracking weight and other metrics.

  • worth stumping up for the Bluetooth feature?

Only if you can't be arsed to type numbers into your spreadsheet. When Bluetooth was invented, the target was to make it <$5 to add to a device, so I guess if you're getting fancy scales they all have it now.

I've had Omron Viva for a few years and apart from needing re-pairing more often than I'd like (maybe every couple of months) they've been good. The app is decent and doesn't nag you to upgrade to premium too often.

  • Yeah that’s why I asked over here, probably should have tried there first regardless.
    Thanks, by the way.

  • Yeah, I’ve always been a spreadsheet person, but part of me thinks I can at least I can weigh myself more, have more data points easily recorded to then drop into the spreadsheet.

Have ordered some salter ones and will see how it goes!

  • how are those eBay heater adverts that claim to heat your home for eternity for 10p legal?

  • They aren't, but policing claims which violate the fundamental laws of thermodynamics is not something either ebay or Mr Plod does proactively

  • How are sellers on Temu getting away with selling electronics goods in the UK with no CE or UKCA mark?

  • Tbh I wouldn’t trust a 3ft. £0.89 lava lamp from Temu whether it had CE or UKCA markings or not.

  • How are sellers on [Chinese market place] getting away with selling [goods made by slaves in egregiously polluting sweatshops] in the UK with no [compliance with any required standard of quality]?

I dunno, it's a mystery isn't it? In unrelated news, active and retired western politicians enjoy lavishly rewarded sinecures at companies and organisations funded by dictatorial eastern regimes.

  • The Military fitness secret that will get me ripped like a beast in only 5 minutes a day will be ok though won’t it?
You know they tried to ban it and people are calling it the Tesla of Special Forces Military fitness secrets they tried to ban.

  • But only if you do this ……… to your phone now!

  • 5 minutes every day? Fuck that.

  • Is the "special cement" in Rema's tubeless tyre repair kits a vulcanizing agent?

    https://www.rematiptop.com/products/automotive/cements.html

Josh applies vulcanizing glue to dynaplugs to make them more permanent
(I've never had to do this but I'm curious about it)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCZkkguZPBU

and I'm wondering if the special cement in the Rema kit will work, since I already have that.

"The key to REMA TIP TOP's exclusive Blue Bonding System, Special Blue Cement (flammable) creates a nearly indestructible bond between tire and repair unit. REMA TIP TOP's newest Special Blue Cement (flammable) is free of CFC and aromatic compounds. Specifically designed for the application of REMA TIP TOP Radial, Bias-Ply and Universal, Minicombi & RemaStem repair units. Use for chemical installation of REMA TIP TOP blue bonding layer repair units, Blue Floater Gum and chemical vulcanizing compounds."

  • and while I'm asking, wtf is Remaxx in that repair kit?

  • Any mechanical engineer Profs in the house? I need help with the idiot RAC who have broken my car. It would mean a lot to have someone with some standing weigh in. I'm very stuck at the moment!

  • afaik the rema stuff is a vulcanizing agent, in the german version of the website it doesn't say "cement" at all, its called vulcanizing fluid throughout.
EDIT: the blue stuff seems to be made of mystery material and I couln't find out more

  • That junk isn’t being sold in the UK. It’s coming in the mail.

  • What is the major design flaw in most new cars of recent years that prevents you opening the door underwater?

And how lucrative is the target market for the solution?

  • That junk isn’t being sold in the UK. It’s coming in the mail

It's being sold in the UK for tax and regulatory purposes if it's ordered by and delivered to a customer in the UK. Were it otherwise, we'd all be ordering our guns and drugs in the mail from countries where supply of such things is less regulated 🙂

  • What is the major design flaw

    Bernoulli's principle.

  • Bernoulli

    So not Pascal then?
