In other news, my doctor told me today that I am actually not really cleared to ride a bike, not even after 4 effin' months. I'll just look out when dropping kerbs to do it one handed.

Damn, looking at that link I now want a double disc fixed cadex. Like really.
Maybe even do 650b conversion with road ish tyres.
Ah well, let's get back to actually being able to ride a bike in anger. -

And to finish. Wow, much want.
Best colourway too!
You wanna go silver hollowgram for the cranks?
The bb is bsc threaded right? Ask away in our PM convo, I have theoretically found a solution to be able to use one on a bsc bb. -

That's a satisfying mockup. Could be an ikea framed poster

Bought this frame and fork for only €30 and build it up with mostly parts bin stuff. First time trying Campagnolo 11s shifters with 9s Shimano drive train.
Not sure yet if I'll use it as a commuter or get some knobby tyres and become a gravel bro

Sweet!
...
I realise it's not a huge coincidence, but I've been thinking of enquiring about the same sort of Wit Slingers bag for my Starling. I'll try to pick a different colour at least if I do 😳😜 -

Looks like good fun on a small budget. Win!

Very happy with my new acquisition which I’m already sure is the nicest frame I’ve ever had. Seen here in parts bin mode cos I was desperate to take it for a spin. The plan is for a nice summer road fixed thing, so a brake, silver hubs and spokes, Dura Ace cranks, and drops are in order. I’m also keen to try some Jitensha bars or similar if anyone has anything like that up for grabs.

Looks fun! And nice plans

Do it! Fits a surprising amount and works delightfully with the cage access. I’ve wedged in a tube, mini pump, dynaplug, multi tool (quite bulky one), tyre levers, a wooltooth pack plier and a mini cliff bar. Should still be space for my house keys.

How much seatpost do you really need in the seat tube? Enough to get below the tt?

How much seatpost do you really need in the seat tube?
The greater of what the frame builder says and what the seat post maker says. Absent manufacturer directions, the rule of thumb is at least a quarter of the total seat post length inserted in the seat tube.

Below the tt junction is the minimum but its much simpler for steel frames

Will look for a new seatpost or maybe a saddle with s tall stack.

New bottle cages, bar tape, wheels.

Sheesh. Makes me crave something neo-retro again. So pretty.

Is there a thread/sub-forum for building non-bike things with bike parts?
I have done a few projects using bits from my spare parts bins, and I'm curious about what others have done. I have always felt like used bike bearings (from headsets, BBs, even wheels) are pretty good value large diameter bearings with decent tolerances for building simple machines. I'd love to see any inspiration for things like:- wood lathe (maybe even treadle or pedal powered?)
- etching press
- drum sander
- bandsaw
- Fruit crusher
I'm sure there are other projects/hacks that would be interesting too, just a few that came to mind!

Just bolt that sucker right on!
Happy to read you are apparently still alive

forgot about that thread! everyone needs a crankset to dispense their toilet roll right? ;P
I was thinking more on the practical angle though... maybe I am once again extending myself beyond my engineering knowledge!!@Rodolfo - still here, still cycling, but mostly just functional with 3 little ones... and I still have the GT EDGE Aero (3 house moves later!) waiting for the end of it's paint job... someday we'll all have that satisfaction!
Thanks for the link!
Yes I had read about that too.
Unfortunately mine only has a removable drive side, not non-drive side.
Disc rear would indeed be preferred but this'll do. I also have my eyes on some of those parallel pull-deore xts you have on yours. But it rides, upgrades can come.
