• mini portable electric pumps off Aliexpress?

I used it out on the road for the first time today. Worked really well, and saved me getting cold, dirty hands!

  • Appreciate the reply and good to hear

  • Pondering dumping my rim brake bike and upgrading to discs but as the groupset is rim brake (ultegra 6800 di2 if that makes any impact on the question). I was going to use something like Juintech. Anything out there better?

  • Yeah, hydraulic brakes.

  • Don't really want to have to buy new shifters if I can avoid it. Feels like the gateway to another groupset purchase as I can get a 105 di2 group for 800 euros.

  • Juin tech is good. Used them on my town bike for a year. But you will end up going full hydro so may as well go straight there.

  • I have had the 2 pot flat mount Juin techs on my do everything bike for over a year now. They were about half the cost of updating to a pair mechanical hydro shifters + calipers at the time. Ive used them in the pyrenees, Mallorca and some loaded offroad bike packing trips and have never felt underpowered in braking + I got to keep my nice small rim brake shifters. They need adjusting probably every month to trim lever pull, must use compressionless housing and can be grotesquesly noisy in the wet. Not sure the GT-Fs are particularly good value compaired to single pot but I cant compare the performance.

  • I have old Shimano Hydro on my road bike, and TRP HYRDs on my two other bikes. I've never noticed much difference in stopping power or modulation (compression less cables ftw), and the road bike is currently stuck on the turbo since they have a leak somewhere, whilst my other TRPs have been fine and used for more miles.

I'm sure servicing hydraulics is as easy as people say it is, but I personally value the fact that I can fiddle with and adjust the HYRDs myself using all the cable paraphernalia I already have

  • Juin-tech headz, compatible pads freecycling here: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/392791/#comment17239811

  • The Juin Tech’s squeal can be dealt with by Swiss stop pads and rotors.

  • Looking for a lightweight rim brake road frame, are there still some of these out there ?

  • Winspace has rim brake versions of some of their frames

  • Any cheaper and working alternative to Garmin Edge Power Mount Cable (USB-A)?

  • May not be what you’re after (given posting here!), but I wouldn’t rule out a secondhand Trek ALR, ideally one of the later ones with direct mount brakes. Lightweight enough to match cheap ish carbon and DM is a step up.

  • I am also looking into used frames, though currently the used market is kinda meh where I am locally. Thanks for the suggestion though

  • Anyone have experience with AliExpress carbon 29ers? Keen to find a hardtail- which builders/companys should I be looking at?

  • I got told by a bike shop to get rid of my LB wheels and get some DT Swiss PR 1600 - they "perform" better.

When I asked them to elaborate, they said "better power transfer".

Looks like this thread is over...

  • lovely stuff. which shop?

  • Got the new 9Velo LV45 wheels in the post today. 45mm deep, 21mm internal, 1291g the pair.

Quality looks good, need to set them up but waiting until the weather isn't as shit before using them.

  • 21 internal? Is this a restomod?

  • 21 internal?

    21 is the new 17🙂

  • I didn't want to name and shame, but I think they did a shit job so I will.
    It's "Bike" in Stamford Brook.

  • I’ve stopped using Bike after a couple of really poor experiences. Work they charged me for that they didn’t complete etc etc

  • Getting excited about those electric minipumps you guys are discussing. 100-ish grammes really isn't that bad.

  • I bought one out with me to NZ instead of the track pump I used to pack- much more convenient. Mine is a Fumpa but I imagine they’re all similar.
