  • On the BMX it was definitely skill rather than fitness holding me back (although I did it when it was about 25 degrees so pretty warm).

On the track you could definitely feel it getting up the banking but still doable even out of shape.

  • I don't seem to be able to find this, but with 18 teeth anywhere. Am I rubbish at internetting, or is it just not a thing?

  • What is it, a Uniglide sprocket or one of the splined SS adapter sprockets that go on a freehub?

  • Thanks both, I think the above is right. Will see.

  • Hi all and happy new year -
Are there any conveyancer type legal eagles on here? Simply. I want to buy some land from a trusted friend and have some previous search details plus have had another pal ask a conveyancer friend to do a few key up to date searches on their recommendations and everything looks sound.
Do I just need the HM land registry TR1 AP1 and the ID (ID3) form to buy the land? this details the land registry title, transferor, transferee and amount paid. Do I need any sort of contract on top to say I’ve bought it from x, they have been paid and give up all rights to the ownership and the land is now owned my, erm, y, me!?

    Thanks all

  • You don't need a contract. Not sure if you need an AP1 or not. You will need a TR1 and you'll need an ID3 if you don't have a professional conveyancer acting for you who can do the KYC checks.

  • Many thanks - I’ll double check on eve AP1 but, as I sort of suspected, if you’re both signing the transfer form with witnesses and sending ID etc to transfer the legal ownership I guess that’s all the contract one needs.

    Thanks again

  • AP1, alongside the TR1 definitely needed :-)

  • although trying to work out if the seller fills this in, not me as the buyer!

  • I have a usb c powered device that I want to place outdoors, weatherproof USB c cables don't appear to be a thing, am I over thinking using a regular cable? It came with a couple of rubber bands to go on the USB connector which I guess is supposed to stop water entering the socket. It's currently running on batteries but I'm getting board of changing them frequently

  • Could you just spadge the connection area with silicone sealant?

  • Go at it like that and you might break yourself before the big day.

Most training programs suggest you increase either intensity or duration by 10% a week.

Do a mixture of cardio, core strength work and flexibility. But trying like you are in a Hollywood montage is probably counter productive.

  • Commuting in temperatures below -10'c these days. The ride feels notably sluggish and I feel like I need to put in significantly more effort to keep the usual pace. I am wondering if the grease in my BB and ball bearings does not respond well to the cold. My commuter bike is a bog standard CX jobbie with Shimano 105 for all moving parts.

  • Greases definitely start to solidify at cold temperatures. It is hard to tell without knowing what grease has been used though in your situation.

In our products at work we start using low temperature oils, greases and seals in products to be used below -30 deg c.

Tests on marching soldiers show a substantial increase in energy expenditure when T drops from 20°C to - 10°C. Also there is an increase in drag due to the higher air density at low T. Your grease will slow down, but not critically - common general purpose grease of the type used on bicycles is typically rated to work down to - 20°C

  • Could be the tyres getting stiff.
    https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/specials/crr-temperature-test
    "On average, rolling resistance decreases by 17.6% when the tire surface temperature is increased from 20 °C - 68 °F up to 40 °C - 104 °F. "

  • Ha! If only.

From the sounds of it then, my current 30min cycling and 5mins rowing each day is probably fine, with the aim of increasing the resistance/elevation slightly on the cycling every few days.

I really do need to get on the stretching though. Especially now I'm back at a computer instead of climbing in a soft play. Handily pure gym gives you little videos you can watch on your phone for a few "classes", including stretching.

This would wind me up no end. If you don’t need the money, I would terminate the agreement.

    Then start afresh.

You’re not getting anything from the current arrangement.

  • I honestly care much less about the money and more about having someone I find easy going

1 instead of 2 if you're not fussed about the money, but with enough of the notice from 3 to make it fair and legal.
