Not sure, I'm prepared to risk a credit card purchase and see what happens

For me I don't see the point. I don't see multi-day activities without being able to plug in likely. I would probably go with a Solar option for a watch since I wear that all day but a bike computer I can charge after a ride.

Then why pay extra for the 1040 at all if the 1030 Plus lasts a day?
For me, the extra battery capacity helps because it means when camping and not in a hotel every night, I have less need to plug into my Anker battery pack, which means less chance of getting caught out in bad weather while recharging it and it saves the battery pack for phones and lights.
