thanks ^^
I started to be a bit bothered by the curved top tube of the Crux so i thought it was time for something else. So yesterday I picked up this 8bar Mitte V2, it has similar specs to the Crux but i like it more in the term of looks. It might be a strange move but there is this dutch (or is this commonly known?) saying 'change of food makes you eat'.
I'm thinking about changing the tires..
And there are some updates coming for the Scott XC, i bought some lights, just need to fix the wiring. And after 3 years hopefully some updates for the Time road bike!

I like it! Good looking frame and build

thanks! I've replaced the Gravelkings by WTB tires, changed the seat post to a carbon one and the seat post collar to a steel one. Also the front disc is replace by a SRAM one, still need to order the one for the rear side (only had a 140 mm but need another 160). And changed the stem by a shorter one.
I might add some more grey parts in the future because all black is bit boring for this color I think, but not too sure about it yet. Maybe a silver/titanium seat post and bottle cages? And I don't like the current crankset so that needs a change somewhere in the near future for sure.

New parts came in last week. Still in the hunt for a nice titanium stem that is also somewhat affordable. And I have to figure out what to order to make this PF83A crankset fit in a regular bsa bottom bracket. Any suggestions?

That's the 119mm axle judging by the colour?
I have a hollowgram crank earmarked for a project. I measured I needed a 125 axle (orange one) with some change for a bsa frame with bsa30/bsc30 BB and spring washer. But it might work in your situation with the shorter axle. -
• #183
I like the change to be able to center the crank in the shell. I have seldomly installed a crankset that didn't need some kind of spacing to get it right. But that might also be the fault of my home mechanics
-
• #184
Yes, its the 119 mm one, so a normal 30 mm bb from FSA or rotor should fit? I'm also not familiar with bb spacers as my campa cranks always were plug and play but that shouldn't be rocket science I hope

As I maybe a bit garbled-mindedly stated, my in practice unproven measurements showed I need a 125mm axle for it to fit with a bsc30/bsa30 BB.
I believe the Raceface ones are best, have read bad things about the Rotor one.
I ended up with an aliexpress one.
It might work with the 119mm axle; I'ld try it anyway. But do get a 30mmspringwave washer for the driveside, it gives some wiggle room to get the preload right. -
• #186
No it's just bad reading skills by me! Thanks a lot, I was thinking about the Rotor one but just ordered a Praxis bb with a few spacers included, so what you say, I'll just try it.

Today I finally put some lights on the Scott. First I had an ali front hub light that looked good but that was it, light output was quite poor. So went for a B+M IQ-X instead and a B+M ยต mini rear light. For the rear light I took the fender mount and modified it a bit. Also replaced the original bars and brake levers, nothing fancy but I like the wider bars and metal instead of plastic levers.

Are you sure the praxis takes 30mm on both ends? I believe they take 28mm at the non driveside...

this is great, good job!

Lovely bike! It's only a crankset away from perfection

Great job on the mudguards.
Chain looks a little tight?
-

I checked it on the Praxis website and saw indeed 28 mm for the non driveside.. the bottom bracket arrived today but it actually has 30 mm on both sides (however I had no patience at all so I already ordered a CeramicSpeed bb too, so either one will be returned)
^thanks all, bike indeed needs a new crankset but above all a newer bb type instead of the non cardridge ball bearing one, no idea what it's called but it's an old standard.

Ok good! I wasn't aware they made 30mm throughout BBs. Also didn't pop up on my admittedly lazy Google.
Btw, I test fitted my crank this weekend and a 125mm is approx 8mm too long without BB spacers. I reckon the 119mm would be perfect, also regarding chainline.
Have you installed it yet? Am curious!

Not yet, I'm waiting for the shimano and ceramicspeed bottom bracket tools to arrive.
I did measure the space between the two crank cups, that's approx 88/89 mm with the 119 axle. And the width of the new bottom bracket bearing cups is around 11 mm p/side. So 68 mm bb + 11 + 11 = 90 mm so hopefully it fits.
Chainline probably will be a problem because the chainring has a large offset. I might turn the chainring around if thats possible or buy another chainring

Rollerbrakes

Rollerbrakes indeed, only the BR-C6000-F version has some braking power, other versions not so much

Tools for the bottom bracket came in today so I started right away. Main conclusions:
- With the new bottom bracket installed the total width is around 90 mm.
- When both crank arms are installed on the 119mm axle it leaves 88 mm between the two.
- There was a 2.5 mm spacer on the axle I had to remove
- The wavy washer is 0.5 mm
You can do the math, it just fits.
Then the chainline obviously was very off, fixed that by turning around the chainring.

When I thighten the crank bolt real tight the crank starts to turn more heavily so I have to check where thats coming from. But besides that it works fine, just have to check if it doesn't come loose.

Some updates for the Scott XC, new Pelago front rack and mudguards. And it still has the Nexus 8 speed hub wheels, so i changed the shifter to a Alfine shifter instead of the regular twist shifter. Next up will be some lights, sorting the brakes, remove the outer chainwheel or a new crankset/bottom bracket and maybe new handlebars. It's not the fastest bike I own but a perfect commuter for now
