  • Saltburn. Its been a long time since I've seen Brideshead Revisited (the TV series, obvs).

  • Rebel Moon. Zack Snyder is so route one about everything, there's not a hint of nuance about any decision. It worked for 300 because it was a super macho version of a generally accepted macho story, this is action dross but without a hint of self deprecation that usually elevates that kind of thing into entertainment. Your native Amoonican man just tamed a space griffon without so much as getting knocked on his arse once for a giggle. Gonna finish it because my mind needs the disengagement, but as much as I fucking love shit sci fi and pew, pew, pews, I feel like it's a film made in the canon of idiocracy that was only ever ment to play in the background of other scenes.

  • Some of the CGI is shit for a video game too.

  • Fucking hell, he could've cut about an hour of slow shots of people sweating and/or looking into a distant green screen for a hint of plot or believable dialogue, space horses are the least of it's problems.

  • Although riding the the space horses towards their fucking home space village at the end after a seemingly long ride when they must've got to the moon on a fucking spaceship, when the space Nazis landed next to the village at the beginning of the "film" is pretty fucking stupid. And all the space Norn Iron accents are fucking odd.

  • I might watch the latest avatar to cleanse my eyes.

  • Leave the world behind. Really fucking tedious and not worth it. Shite.

  • Agreed.. Switched off after 20 minutes.

    Maestro is fucking brilliant.

  • I can’t wait to watch Maestro. I’m saving it for NYE. I absolutely loved A Star is Born. That is right up there on my all-time list.

  • I only cried four times during Its a Wonderful Life this year. Must be turning into a hard-hearted old bastard.

  • Watched The Holdovers yesterday evening with a few mates who weren’t back with family for Xmas either.

Enjoyed it. Lovely mix of 70’s styling and current humour

  • Must admit I don't really get biopics... My parents were Bernstein fans so we used to watch/listen to his various work when I was growing up, but the film doesn't really appeal.

  • “Leave the world behind” on Netflix is this year's end of year end of the world “Don’t look up”. Very well done and a bit depressing

  • Even more behind the game than usual, I watched Calvary last night. Can see why the film got mixed reactions, but Brendan Gleeson's performance was incredible. Needed cheering up after watching, of course.

No, "It's a wonderful life" would not cheer me up. If anybody forced me to sit through that again, I might have to go and shoot a good director to make a point.

  • Calvary is brilliant. Not much fun though.
I'm currently sitting through A Haunting In Venice. Why did Michelle Yeoh follow up an Oscar winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once with a minor role in this bollocks??

  • OMG. Rebel Moon is so terrible.

I read your review(s) but still kind of thought can't be that bad.

Oh it was much worse. How does such a shit movie get made? At some point, isn't someone in the massive studio system that is Netflix sort of legally required to point out to the director how shit the dialogue is, how the plot doesn't make any sense and the photography looks like it was shot by a small child.

God knows how much money they spent on this crap. And this was only Part 1. Total rubbish

  • I watched Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan on Friday afternoon, it’s really well put together and made me quite nostalgic. Julian Temple is very good at this sort of thing.

  • I saw Wonka last night at the cinema.

Half the cast of Peep Show are in it along with Phil Wang and Tom Davis from King Gary, the casting threw me a bit.

I don't really "do" musicals but I've watched Willy Wonka since I was a kid so it gets a pass.

I enjoyed it although I'm not sure where the city is supposed to be set.

  • Maestro blew me away. Maybe the best biopic ou there. Although I admit I knew nothing about the man. Also applaud the make up department 👏👏👏

  • A friend sold it to me with the line "if you grew up watching Willy Wonka and enjoyed Paddington 2, there's a high chance you might feel quite magical", haha.

  • Getting my ducks in a row for new year's day on the sofa. What's everyone's go to hangover film? Stupid 80s/90s action, stupid comedy etc.

I watched Bottoms last night and wished I'd saved it for tomorrow, that was very silly and fun.

  • Shaun of the dead / hot fuzz are solid modern hangover movies.

  • Both Wedding Crashers and There’s Something About Mary have been in recently, reckon they should be available on one of the terrestrial players
