Gonna replace all the contact points for my preferred set up, Pro PLT comapct drops and Speah Romin Evo on a Carbon post.
Wheels are being switched out for a set of DT Swiss P1400 Oxic that I picked up for £175 on FB, mad barg.
Groupset wise….if i can be patient then Red22 would look baller, but i have a very finite budget t0 finish this.
Merlin have a good sale on at the mo, so considering GXP 810 cranks and FD, with R8000 rd and R7000 shifters.
Would give me 48/31 up front and 11-32 at the rear. These ratios appeal to my aging legs. -

Drying your frame on a radiator after you washed it is a totally normal thing to do right?
Also saw it has a BB30 > BSA adapter sleeve in it, gonna run a BSA BB for the moment but good to know there are options on the future

Tyre clearance has unsurprisingly become an issue. Fronts are a-ok with the 28c, rears….not so much.
Clears brake bridge by 1-2mm, not ideal but it’s workable. However the Sram Aerolink brakes sit a few mm lower. No dice.
Suck it up and just go to 25mm or swap the brakes for R8000000 which seem to have a mountings point that allows more clearance?

I would test it if you can before buying new calipers. R8000 do have good clearance but my recollection is they still have a small measure of drop from the mounting boss so might foul. I've said it a few times before but Sram Rival 22 calipers have the best clearance i have found in a short reach caliper. The caliper arms sit flush with the underside of the mounting boss so you (should) retain what ever clearance you have at the bridge.

I had Open Corsas that blew up to 27mm under an R7000 caliper on one of these frames. It was pretty tight everywhere but IIRC it was closer to the little lump on the brake bridge than it was the caliper.

yeah thats the plan, trying to borrow one. wiggle have the r7000 on at 14.99 so might just pick that up as a tester.

It’s all coming together, R8000000 calipers on the way from @Jome and then the rest if rhe build can begin.
In the meantime decided that the GRX cranks just didn’t look quite right, “ like wearing a formal suit with converse” as a friend put it.
Found a pair of Zayante Carbons for a decent price, but In classic fashion the pics dodnt show how used they were. The gloss finish is pretty much all gone.
Think i’ll give it a wet polish with some 2000grit first and see how that looks, commit to the matte feel.

Wouldn’t be a bike build if I didn't come across some #structurals issues.
First I didn’t brain well last week and got the wrong headset bearings from Mud Dock. Putting it together and nothing fitted, massive gaps caused by the bearings seating on the crown race and compression ring.
Took it to @b0n0rv2 who fitted a new crown race, but still had the same issue up top, what looked like way too much stack.
So picked up a cane creek compression ring to match the bearings and voila. At this point I figured what had happened, only went and bought 45/36 not 45/45 bearings, of course they didn’t seat properly if the inner chamfer was the wrong angle.
Good thing it only cost me another £30 before i figured that out….sigh
