If I'm going to strip the Crux and stick Di2 on it, is it worth going to 12S for this kind of improvement? I always figured I'd stick with 11s Di2 so it matches all my other stuff for simplicity but if there's actual improvements worth considering (I don't consider an extra cog enough but if you weigh against cost and availability and future proofing.. )?
Precisely. Four piston with the new increased pad clearance is what I want.
