Wouldn't expect there'd be any compatibility issues between a USB C drive and ten year old computer, other than the cable.
Seems most come with a C - C cable which will be no use without an adapter, which may or may not be included. Regardless, any USB A to C cable should work. Just not at the advertised maximum speeds.
